More 3D Printing

Thanks. :)

I've got a Flashforge Creator, and a CTC. Both of them can print down at 0.1mm, but I mostly print at 0.2mm. 0.1mm takes a lot longer, and I really don't think it looks much better, since the layer width stays the same.

For large things, I use 0.3mm if there isn't a lot of detail.

I looked at your Etsy shop and you're prices seem really reasonable, especially for hand-finished and painted work.

I'd like to pick up your warp core desk lamp at some point. It's a top-notch idea.

Cool, thanks. :)

Just let me know, I'll be making several to take to Pensacola Comic Con with me in February.

Hey guys,

Making more stuff for the convention. I finished up my Ancient Aurora class battleship model, and it's ready to print out. I think this one turned out pretty good.

It'll be about 10 inches long when it's done. Now to make a puddle Jumper. :D

Thanks. :) Yep, it's on the list, along with an Asgard ship too. At that point, I should have one of everything!

Next round of models are ready to ship out. :) I also got my new Serenity paint job done, and I like it quite a bit better than the old one.

Star Wars stuff tonight, inspired by "The Force Awakens". I'll have some of these for Pensacon; only 2 months to finish getting ready!

Have a somewhat technical question: If you were to model (in your 3D program) a barrel-and-pin* connection like that typically used in assembling model kits, would you include an air gap for the glue? If yes, how big a gap? How small could the gap be?

TIA :techman:
Nice job on the SW stuff.

*(you know, one part has a barrel and the other part has a pin that fits in it.)

Yep, I always leave a pretty good sized air gap on parts like that, mainly so that it's not so tight when the parts are fitted together. I've actually done test fits before and broken them off, which defeats the purpose of the pin to start with. :D

I'd say it would be about a millimeter gap, usually, and gel super glue fills it in nicely.

You're welcome. :)

Got a few new things on the bench tonight. I've got two of my Aurora-Class Ancient warships assembled and almost ready to paint.

And on topic, I also got my first full size Constitution Refit USS Challenger printed out and assembled, which came out pretty good, I think. :)
