More 3D Printing

Definitely... already in work, actually. :) I'll have some pics once I get more surface detail built on it!

Hey guys,

Sorry for the lack of any updates, it's been a busy week, but I got 3 orders shipped out. :)

Good news, too... I got my second printer in today, and it is working pretty well. It's actually a FlashForge clone, built by CTC. That's kind of weird though, since FlashForge is a Makerbot clone....

Just finished calibrating it up, so it can get parts in production tomorrow. :)

I'd be curious to see how well the parts work together printed across 2 different printers. Technically, they should come out with interchangeable pieces, but then again, real life never seems that easy.

Yep, I've been experimenting with that. :)

Both machines are off slightly, in different places, but close enough that it shouldn't cause any problems.

Something that is a problem, is that this printer didn't come with a constant pressure feed system, like my other one. I've had problems today with it not feeding filament correctly, but luckily they sell a refit kit to solve the problem. :)

Well, got an update on the pressure feed system. :) Didn't work, the part broke on the first print.

What I did find, was a bunch of plastic ground on my extruder wheel. Once I cleaned that, put it back together as it was originally, it started working perfectly.

I guess I should have checked that first. :) It must have happened when I loaded the filament the first time.

Back to work now. :D

It is simply amazing the tools available to the average Joe Hobbyist now!
Good lord, that Prometheus and Merlin are gorgeous! :)

Keep up the awesome! :)

Thanks. :)

It really is an amazing feeling to be able to design and print this stuff, all in one room at the house!

I'll have pictures of Nostromo up tonight. :)

God, this stuff makes me wish I could just drop some bucks and get my old computers fixed, or get a brand new one. I so wanna get back into CG modeling and animation....I've also seen that there are some consumer priced 3D scanners out there. If they work the way I hope, I could scan some of the miniatures that I have (Star Trek, Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica) and do some cool stuff with them. Especially the Fantasy Flight Star Wars minitaures that I have of the Millennium Falcon, Shuttle Tydirium, and the Tantive IV. :)

Of course, I also like the traditional method of just making shapes( in Blender) and putting them together. :)

Keep up the excellent work, Madman! :)
