Moon got best British Indie

I'm more than pleased about this since it's rare for any sci fi to get a prestigious award but mostly because it's such a good film. Let's hope people are taking note that intelligent, low budget sci fi is as good as any other mainstream drama.

Woo! Glad it got something, anyway, and it's definitely something all sci-fi fans should consider viewing, it's beautifully brilliant (one of my favourite sci-fi films of all time? Honesty? Yes.)

I was happy to read this. I only just managed to watch it when it was released on DVD, I would have seen it sooner but my local cinema never showed it.

It's one of the few things I've blind bought in recent years and I wasn't disappointed. I hope it gets a lot of recognition.

I thought it came out in the US before it did here. I got the blu-ray a week or two ago.

Amazon says it won't be released until January on Blu-Ray (or, I assume, DVD, since I haven't seen it in stores). Perhaps the release date was pushed back, I don't know.

I'm sort of curious now as to whether Avatar will join Star Trek, Moon and District 9, or hang out with Terminator: Salvation, Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen and Surrogates.

District 9 deserves something too, I agree.

Hey, in any other year (last year, say... or the year before that... but not the year before that one, but if you skip that year, then the next year too... er...) District 9 would be my pick for best sci-fi film of the year.

Sweet! I really liked "Moon" a lot, so I'm happy to see it getting some recognition.

Personally, I far preferred it to "District 9" which I didn't like very much.

I really enjoyed District 9, FWIW. I thought it was a very clever, well-made, inventive and original science-fiction film. Neil Blomkamp has a lot of talent and infused it into the movie brilliantly. I didn't have many complains. It's a crackerjack of a film and it definitely deserves a lot of kudos.

Moon, for all intents and purposes, was just better in my opinion. It was a "one man show" which definitely impressed me and the special effects were gorgeously implemented. One of more amazing things is that while District 9 cost $30 million, Moon only cost $5 million and to tell you the truth I can't tell the cost difference between the two ... Moon was just something really special to me.

Oh, yeah, and Star Trek rocked, too.

Tiny cast... few locations... few effects shots? I think both movies did a great job with their budgets, it just seems to me it's obvious where the extra money went in District 9. But yeah, great movies all around

Well, as I said, Moon only had one cast member (discounting Kevin Spacey...) and didn't have any exterior locations. I'd agree both did very well with their budgets, but I just could resonate with Moon more.
