Moffat says No master, But what About Omega?

Oh, I think Moffat may have a really nasty surprise in store for us (and the Doctor) on that score. The Master may be done...

But he didn't say anything about The Mistress...

She's calling The Doctor "her boyfriend". Not husband, which is what River would have called The Doctor since they are married.

There's a very thin line (especially for the psychotic) between hate...and love.
Time Lords, it's been established, can regenerate into Time Ladies.
In the leaked scripts, that woman calls herself Missy. She features heavily in the season finale. Missy = short for Mistress.
And the masculine form of Mistress is...

"'you're a great master villain, you know what you do a lot, you lose!"

That's true of pretty much every villain on Doctor Who though...

Was anyone else reading that article and thinking of the interview RTD gave back in 2005 where he said he'd never bring the Master back because he hated the character?

I think it's pretty clear that 'Missy' is the new Master. Maybe Moffat cleared the air on the sexual tension between The Doctor and Clara so he and The Mistress can have a snog whilst trying to kill each other.

That would mean Moffat's just copying Curse of the Fatal Death, only with a female Master instead of a female Doctor.

Chill. All I said was contrary to many fan speculation, she is not River Song. In fact I agree with you guys, she's a female regeneration of The Master

I don't have anything to say here but threads filled with spoiler tags seem to be the trend here these days.

Rule no. 1 the Moff lies so I think it's very likely we will see the Master again.

While the Master thing makes sense-it was established in The Doctor's Wife that time lords can change gender during regeneration-there's also a few other possibilites.

-That's she simply keeper of the Nethersphere or whatever.

-Capaldi was heard on set saying "Susan" so it could be the Doctor's long-lost granddaughter. But that would be weird.

-River, or some new version of her, as suggested above.

-Romana, the Fourth Doctor Time Lady companion played by Mary Tamm and Lalla Ward in a new incarnation. Whether she's still E-space or Gallifrey depends on what you think of Who's continuity/canon).

-The Rani, a Time Lady villainess who appeared in two 80's stories by Pip and Jane Baker played by Kate O Mara. Mara passed away earlier this year but they are using the Rani in the Big Finish audios played by a different actress.

-Heck, could be Omega too, although Omega probably lacks the ability to regenerate, he could easily bond to a new body if he survived Arc Of Infinity.

-Also could be Rassilon too in a new body.

I think a female Master would be cool, but I'd also really like a new incarnation of The Rani, too. Honestly, it will probably be some random person we don't know, but I hope its someone cool like a female Master or The Rani.

Moffat does like to crib from himself, so that wouldn't be a surprise.

I knew that RTD had written a Doctor Who novel during the dark ages. It wasn't until fairly recently that I learned the Moff had also written DW prose during those times, in short story form. One of those stories was published in Decalog 3.

I tracked down a copy (they are still plentiful and fairly cheap) and flipped to his story. Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead and A Christmas Carol are both heavily cribbed from his Decalog story. The story is basically if Carol took place in the Library. I had a sense of dejavu while reading it.

None of this gets around the fundamental problem that Moffat identifies with the character - that he always loses so has no credibility, so male or female still a waste of time - that is why recurring villains are largely a bad idea for the Doctor.

The utterly selfish bastard. They could easily find a way to bring him back, maybe via a past incarnation or maybe he's imprisoned on Galifrey. There are fans of the Master who want him back, and the Master is my favourite villain so Moffat is depriving me of my favourite villain. Anyone else would have brought him back but oh no, not selfish Moffat, he just does what he wants and uses only who he likes, he tried fucking up the Daleks ages ago.

Yea, I recall reading something a month or so back from Moffat, where he said he wasn't bringing The Master back, just because he wanted to Cheese-off Green Lantern. ;)
