Modern Warfare2 General Thread

Precision Airstrike sucks. You have to know your target's exact location to have a chance in hell of killing anyone. I rarely get more than one kill. But-I run predator/precision/harrier just so I can nail the guys that come out of cover after the precision strike. They usually figure it's over and safe to walk the streets again...suckers.
Precision airstrike probably depends somewhat on the map. And it helps if you have a friendly UAV to show you the concentrations of people. The fact that you can target the angle of the bombing run makes it pretty decent for taking out an entire street. I guess it's all a crapshoot. You will get a couple of kills out of an airstrike if you plan it right, but if the enemy is set up to counter a harrier it'll be shot down before it does any damage. If Pave Low isn't glitched anymore then maybe I'll go Pave Low, Chopper Gunner, Nuke. The first 9 kills are kind of tough. But after that...

I'll have to get back to trying for the nuke soon. Last time I played I did the Akimbo 1887 thing in FFA. I don't know if it's really that overpowered. Maybe it doesn't suit my play style, I don't like the idea of seeing someone in the distance and not being able to make a tough headshot for the kill, switching weapons is a bit too slow. Or maybe I just need to work up to the pro version of Lightweight for the 'quick aim'. Seems like that might be the part that makes it incredibly cheap.

I think with the models you need to play CQB styles, which is quite difficult given the range of assault rifles. I would try to stick to the edges of the map. BTW, anybody else find the prestige is just set too high?

To Prestige = 2350k XP (http://callofduty.wikia.com/wiki/Cal...arfare_2_ranks)
Each game ~ 10k XP <-- this to me is a very good score might be a bit too aggressive but you can get challenges etc..

Total games needed to play to prestige ~ 235. Each game = .25 hours. You need to play about 60 hours. 10 Prestige = 600 hours or about 25 gaming days.

Like WTF... even if you get say 20k XP a game you need 13 hours of gaming!! That is way too much to be devoted to a game.

Prestige is pretty much "I don't have a life mode", no offense. That shit just gets longer and longer because it's there for people who are absolutely obsessed with the game. They play for 'only' 60 hours and then the little number in the corner stops going up... it's horrifying to them :)

Prestige mode is actually pretty smart, because for the less obsessed, level 70 is a difficult enough and satisfying goal, and you don't really lose much compared to someone doing prestige. You don't get the prestige icon to show just how awesome you are, and you have what... one less custom class slot? Big whoop!

I prestige just to have a ruler or guide to my progress. And it forces me to get good with crappy weapons or suffer the consequences. Plus, it keeps the enemy off balance. When I prestiged the enemy ignored me, mostly, and I got 24-3 at level 1. I was at level 6 before they started keying on me again. I also spent a lot of level 68-70 playing with the default classes, so I was ready to rumble with those at P1L1 if things got hairy.

I remembered W@W I didn't even bother b/c the guns were pure utter shit and everybody was ravaging me with MP40. I got to like 40 and said f this I'm playing Nazi Zombies. I personally want the custom slots, as I want to run different classes. I like to try a gun for a couple games but if I get spanked right away I want a try hard class. 5 classes just aren't enough.

God, another glitch - infinite ammo.
It's funny to play in it though - lots of booms. :p

Looks like the infinite ammo thing is a mod, which means it's not going anywhere anytime soon.

Here's a lovely video showing more fun with the javelin (not the infamous javelin glitch):

With as much shit as I give Dragon Age for its balance issues as a singleplayer game, MW2 seems to be a hundred times worse with all of its issues in multiplayer.

No, but you could ban people doing it.

With the infinite ammo thing, you don't even know who to ban. I suppose that's the one good thing - EVERYONE gets the "cheat" at least.

The other day I felt like changing my gamertag to "Walking Taget".

Every time I turned left the enemy came from the right. Every time I turned right they came from the left. Either that or I would spawn in people's gunsights.

^that can get old after a bit, you shoulda seen some of the guys me an hawk were playing against today

It's why I prefer domination anyway.
Camping only gets you so far if you're losing points and there's less penalty to dying.

I really don't like the spawn system in the game though. I should be able to not spawn if I don't want to - it'd make the killstreak rewards less powerful. It doesn't help when it is seemingly random sometimes.

Probably not playing defensively enough. When you spawn. Hang back a bit. gather your sights. When you move, look for a spot for cover. scope in for a bit then move a bit. Gather your wits and move again. Don't rambo it out, you'll probably get slaughtered. Better yet, don't run at all. 30% of my kills are because people are running and can't get their gun sights up fast enough. Play a lot of FFA. and watch videos like this guy

He plays mad defensive gaming and this style netted me my first nuke.

I think I'm done with MW2 for awhile. This game has become a joke. The lack of balance with Akimbo and Commando have really ruined it.

Worse yet, the matchmaking flaws make the game completely unplayable because it's nearly impossible to join a match that isn't using the FFA mod or while you're in a large (4-5 people) party. Had about a 1 in 10 success rate doing so last night, with the party not being added correctly or somehow popping into someone's private match despite not looking for private games.

No beta test needed my ass.

The private match thing is a glitch - it lets people set their own settings and still get points. On the one hand, it can be kind of amusing - you can have games that last an hour - on the other hand, it sucks if you just want to play a normal game.

I think I can accept that a bit more than the other glitches. On the PC, if you had a server browser, you could just find a server that plays the same game type and map 24/7 (Kirkland 24/7! 2fort 24/7!). I know I'd love to just play 24/7 Sub Base. It's the only map that I think is relatively fair enough to prevent super camping.

402 did say that Akimbos are being rebalanced. We'll see.

I wonder what they are going to be doing with the DLCs, b/c I doubt IW forecasted this many issues.

I'm sure they'll sell the million, but I wonder how many people will go ahead and pick them up if the game is still broken.

Had a hell of a time getting into a match with firehawk lastnight >.> did all sorts of crazy shit...who playtested this, monkeys?

There is little defence for spawning in somebody's gunsights.
