Modern Warfare 2: Prestige Edition... comes with night vision goggles!

Re: Modern Warfare 2: Prestige Edition... comes with night vision gogg

I don't get some of you people... Is anyone forcing you to get the expensive special editions ?

Don't want them, don't buy them and get the regular package. :vulcan:

Re: Modern Warfare 2: Prestige Edition... comes with night vision gogg

Forget the goggles, both collector's editions come with a code for CoD1. I want to know if they remade it with the new engine or if they just ported the old game.

I can't imagine they put any huge effort into it. It'll be a straight port of the original. And I bet they won't even have the decency to include the United Offensive expansion. CoD: UO on the huge maps with tanks disabled was some of the best fun I've had this decade.

Re: Modern Warfare 2: Prestige Edition... comes with night vision gogg

Well, you have to imagine that they'll sell the game itself for like 15 bucks (even though I'm sure CoD2 will sell for 20), so you kind of hope that they'd do some work for it.

Did UO ever come to consoles though? And is CoD1 backwards compatible?

Re: Modern Warfare 2: Prestige Edition... comes with night vision gogg

I remember seeing UO packaged together with Big Red One for the PS2 at Wal-Mart. I thought about picking it up, but I've already played BR1. Plus my PS3 isn't backwards compatible, and I'm too lazy to dig up my PS2 again. :p

Actually, now that I think about it, it was probably Finest Hour that was packaged with Big Red One, not United Offensive. UO was Windows-only, IIRC.

They sell the Xbox originals for that much, or was it 20? Regardless, they're all far more crappy than CoD, especially since I'm sure it'll run at HD resolutions.

Plus, CoD2? WTF? You do know that CoD2 was released on Xbox 360, right? I can't imagine that ending up on Xbox Live... or is that coming to PS3 or something?

As far as I know the original CoD didn't come out for consoles, so there wouldn't have been a UO either. They might've shoved the CoD name on something else, but it wouldn't have been the same game.

Re: Modern Warfare 2: Prestige Edition... comes with night vision gogg

They're doing "Games on Demand", so all these 360 titles from 2007 and before are going to be on the service for what is expected to be 19.99. Mass Effect and Call of Duty 3 were some of the titles that I can remember.

And if CoD1 never made it to consoles... wouldn't it be more likely that they rebuilt the game using the CoD4 engine?
At least, I hope so. I guess it's probably less work to port the old code to the 360 (and probably PS3), but if you have to cost out something like that anyway... it might be easier just to redo the art assets and use an engine that's guaranteed to work on 360 without problems.

I think playing the original CoD without any improvements will probably just ruin any nostalgia I had for it... Polygonal graphics just don't stand up unfortunately.

We feel for our UK-based gaming brothers-and-sisters-in-arms. We've seen the gaming industry putting them through the financial wringer many times in the past, but a recent report from MCV describes the cruelest economic hardships they've ever had to face -- Activision has kicked the UK price of Modern Warfare 2 up to £54.99 (close to $90), and according to the report, other publishers may plan to follow suit, raising the prices on their titles as we move into the holiday season.
fuck that, will be a rental only now, edit or hopefully the supermarkets will sell it for a normal price

I will be very surprised if MW2 appears at that price in any shop. No-one will pay that for a standard edition game, and Activision would be naive and stupid to think that anyone would.

Re: Modern Warfare 2: Prestige Edition... comes with night vision gogg

I hope this comes back to bite Activision the ass, no way in a month of Sundays will i ever pay nealy £55 for a game, i enjoy my gaming but not to that extent, and in these recession hit times as well.

Although i do have a laugh at the hypocrisy of it all, one minute Activation are screaming in public the PS3 needs a price cut then they do this, and the PS3 being the only system that wont see any piracy of the game, you have to chuckle.

Ditto - If it is £55 for the PC version, no matter how much I've enjoyed the previous games of the series, I won't be getting it till it seriously drops in price:(

Re: Modern Warfare 2: Prestige Edition... comes with night vision gogg

Since when has a PC version of a game retailed the same as a console version? They're always at least £10 cheaper.

Re: Modern Warfare 2: Prestige Edition... comes with night vision gogg

Well so far Play and Amazon have the console versions at about £45 and the PC versions a £30......so this game might be a massive seller online, i assume places like Game and Gamestation will be the full £55.....although we are defiantly seeing a hike from the standard £39.99.

It will be interesting to see how it pans out.

I'd be surprised if even Gamestation or Game sold it for more than £44.99. I reckon the only places you'll see it for £54.99 will be Argos and the Catalogue companies, who all follow the RRP's to the letter.

Re: Modern Warfare 2: Prestige Edition... comes with night vision gogg

I can see Game & Gamestation selling it for £50. As there prices are always either at RRP or £5 under

Even Play's £45 is too much as I'm not into MP deathmatches. One thing about IW COD, its keeps its price better than most games, its about 2 years old and the current GOTY edition released last year iirc is still around £35/40 in tesco. So its not going to drop in price if you wait

Because they think they can get away with it.

Re: Modern Warfare 2: Prestige Edition... comes with night vision gogg

I buy the special Editions here and there but I'll pass on this one.

When I originally saw the one for Dead space I thought EA was frikkin' nuts!!
Now I'm sorry I didn't get it since I absolutely love the game and bought most of the goodies separately anyay.
