Hey, I don't remember seeing this product in LA in the early 70's either. And I was there.
Funny thing is, I remember that I liked Quake better because it didn't get soggy in milk as fast as Quisp, but my brother liked Quisp the best. But, I can't for the life of me remember what Quake looked like.
I'll go with the Wheel theory. Sounds good, though I have no idea what wheels would have to do with Quaking.

The more I think about it, the more I'm thinking it was actually the last '60s; not sure if or how long it may have continued into the '70s. Then I think it was literally gone for decades. As I mentioned above, while I remembered the cereal, until yesterday, I hadn't actually seen it in the stores since I was like 6 or 7. And I was in Oregon and California at the time (Bay Area), and I know we had it there.
Maybe you just had a "good mom" who didn't let you eat that surgary crap.

Though I do have to ask - What's the metal strip running through the landscape in the first one?
It's wood actually, it is a boardway that runs all the way through the marshland. They probably have cut down a small forest for it.
But yes indeed it was very peaceful and quiet.
