Yup, doesn't mean anything for the next two games, but gotta like how they responded to the bad game in game 2. Gotta grab one more, and Sale is still there for game 5 if needed, but hopefully Porcello can pick it up so Sale is good for game 1 of next series. But the Yanks can hit, Red Sox bullpen is hit or miss at best, so they're not done yet, etc.
The way the playoffs get put together sucks. Gotta scrap divisions for more equal schedules, which then allows them to slot the playoffs better. 3rd and 4th best record in MLB shouldn't have had to play a 1 game play-in game, and then play the #1 record in MLB in the first round. Winner of that plays the #2 team in MLB. After all that is sorted out, the survivor gets to play someone 5-10 for the title. Seems kinda silly, but probably just because of how out of whack the AL vs. the NL was this year. As likely to be the Astros as the Red Sox, but either way has the feel of the 2004 playoffs: Epic ALCS between the best teams in the league, and then after that a couple games for funsies against the NL to say they completed the schedule.*
*Although to be fair, looked it up and the Cardinals won a LOT more games than i remembered that year. Not sure if they were that good and didn't show up for the World Series, rest of the NL was that bad, or Red Sox were just on such a high that they steamrolled them. If I remember correctly, the Sox were never even behind at any point in the series...
