MLB Talk - 2010 Season

Yankees are too successful, they need to have a good long drought, let 'em spin their wheels, Go Rays in the AL East!

Kevin Slowey of the Twins had a no-hitter through seven innings and got pulled, and the first reliever promptly ended the no-hitter and shutout.

I don't understand why managers do that - pull a pitcher out of the game right before they have a chance to make a no-no. Joe Girardi did that with CC Sabathia once (think it was against the Rays).

Slowey was coming back from a tendinitis injury and he had thrown 106 pitches. That, and the Twins need him down the stretch. It was a health concern more than anything else, and IMO the right call.

That may have been, but Gardenhire's a big believer in pitch count. Outside of Liriano (and not too often with him), he rarely lets pitchers go beyond their predetermined pitch count. There have been very few complete games from Twins pitchers in recent years. But in Slowey's case, it was probably just as well. Besides the worries about his arm, he's been prone to meltdown innings.

I agree it was the right call at the time when it was 1-0, but after Thome's 3 run HR in the bottom of the inning, they should have let him go back out there to see what happens.

Had, by some miracle, he'd gotten the next six outs, it would have been a huge confidence boost for him--something he really needs.

Gardenhire's biggest problem is how he manages his staff. I think it's a big reason half the pitchers in the rotation are such mental midgets.

And K-Rod needs season ending surgery from injuries sustained punching out his father in law.

Keep it classy Mets!

Well, another day, another game where the Yankees play like ass. Keep it up guys, im sure Tampa would love to make it to the World Series.

I'd like to think the Jays could take advantage of some Yankee sliding and get back into the wild card race. They're only 9 games out.

Mets are trying to void Rodriguez's contract. Good luck with that considering the most powerful and corrupt union on the planet will be trying to claim that there is absolutely nothing in the MLBPA guidelines that specifically says it's wrong to beat up your girlfriend's father.

^I know, tell me about it.

If this were the NFL, Goodell would have already suspended him for the baseball equivalent of 4-6 games.

I think this is as good a time as any to renounce my fanship of the Mets. They are giving the Knicks a run for their money in the ineptitude department.

If anyone has a team in a pennant race that needs a fan at the trading deadline, let me know. I'll waive my 10/5 no trade clause for a chance at the post season, and free nachos during the world series.

So far, I'm leaning toward Tampa or Minnesota.

I just renounced my Mariners fanship and was looking at the Mets as a possibility.

But that's more because of my memories as a kid of the David Cone era.

It's frustrating following a team that has every resource possible to win and win big, but won't because Ken Griffey Jr. bobblehead dolls are more important to them than winning.
