MLB Pseudo-Season 2020: Roger, Dodgers

Also, you know how MLB has been saying for weeks that the March 26 agreement says that the MLBPA knows they have to make concessions on salaries if they play a season without fans? Which is why MLB has been demanding players earn about about 32-33 percent of their salary in every one of their offers?

The LA Times got its hands on the March 26 agreement and it contains no provisions about a fan-less season requiring a further pay cut.

I'm going to laugh so hard if this bounces back on Manfred's team not actually writing up the agreement the way they told the owners they did.
Yeah. No arbitrator or judge is going to go by "notes" or reported conversations to interpret what the Owners' meaning was in that March agreement. I'm pretty sure you're not allowed just to say, "Well, that's what we meant."

We are disappointed that the MLBPA has chosen not to negotiate in good faith over resumption of play after MLB has made three successive proposals that would provide players, Clubs and our fans with an amicable resolution to a very difficult situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The MLBPA understands that the agreement reached on March 26th was premised on the parties’ mutual understanding that the players would be paid their full salaries only if play resumed in front of fans, and that another negotiation was to take place if Clubs could not generate the billions of dollars of ticket revenue required to pay players. The MLBPA’s position that players are entitled to virtually all the revenue from a 2020 season played without fans is not fair to the thousands of other baseball employees that Clubs and our office are supporting financially during this very difficult 2020 season. We will evaluate the Union’s refusal to adhere to the terms of the March Agreement, and after consulting with ownership, determine the best course to bring baseball back to our fans.

So that confirms the LA Times report: The league didn't read the agreement it signed in March.

My sympathy for either side has eroded considerably, but the league side just shot itself in the foot with the line "It's not fair to other employees."
They have never understood that without players, you don't need any other employees. The players ARE the MLB. After watching Korean and Japanese baseball and other non-major leagues, I can state that we are clearly lucky to have the highest quality baseball in the world.

I heard Japanese baseball was almost as good in terms of quality of players.

Can't Bud Selig just return now and save Baseball. All is forgiven for the All-Star game tie.

Saw a post on another board that " owners today view baseball as a vehicle to sell media rights and merchandise and real estate, and view the actual game itself as an expensive inefficiency to be eliminated as much as possible."
