MLB Pseudo-Season 2020: Roger, Dodgers

A short season would have benefited my Cubs the last 2 years, as they faded quite a bit near the end.

I have no idea about this years team and new manager.

You're probably right, but he could surprise us. Only 2021 will tell :sigh:

I think I said this earlier in the thread, but I'm pretty firmly convinced that Ross is a stopgap. Bryant and Rizzo are absolutely going to walk, Schwarber probably will, Baez is trade bait.

The NFL chooses a champion after 20 games. NCAA football picks a champion after 14 games.

The number of games is arbitrary, regardless. Why not 163 games? Why not 157? If everyone knows the rules and parameters in advance, then it's legitimate.

Is it better if the season is longer? I suppose so, but that's not an option right now. As for "taking the World Series seriously"...who does that anyway? It's a game.

Thank you! At this point, getting anyone to care about baseball will take a Herculean effort, you might as well try something spectacular.

Good ol' Angel Hernandez is at it again. Linky

Nothing will ever happen to Angel Hernandez, aka the worst umpire in baseball. The umpire union is too powerful and corrupt.

Did you know Hernandez has a lawsuit against MLB alleging racial discrimination because they haven't assigned him World Series games since 2005?

I say get as many as possible with triple headers! Morning game is between 12 noon to 3 after noon between 4 and 6 and nighttime between 8 and 11. Let them have active 40 team rosters the whole season!

Owners and players in March: “Half-season for half-pay! Done! Play ball!”

Owners now: “Greedy ass, ungrateful players won’t play for a third of their salary!”

Players: “WTF?”

Fans: “Fuck those greedy players!”
Owners:
"It's all proceeding as we have forseen it"

Never underestimate the average American's ability to take the side of billionaires in their fight against millionaires.

Wonder if the owners will now even whine about a 50 game season, seems pretty clear they didn't want a season at all.

So if we don't get a season does that mean all the players who would have been free agents after this season still get to be or do they still have to play out their contract whenever a new season starts, whenever that may be?

Jason

The agreement they made it March says yes those guys would still get service time and be free agents.

Of course MLB has already gone back on that deal so who knows.

In the midst of multiple owners whining that owning a team is a license to lose money, MLB just signed an extension with Turner Sports to air postseason games.

It's worth a billion fucking dollars.

Also, you know how MLB has been saying for weeks that the March 26 agreement says that the MLBPA knows they have to make concessions on salaries if they play a season without fans? Which is why MLB has been demanding players earn about about 32-33 percent of their salary in every one of their offers?

The LA Times got its hands on the March 26 agreement and it contains no provisions about a fan-less season requiring a further pay cut.

I'm going to laugh so hard if this bounces back on Manfred's team not actually writing up the agreement the way they told the owners they did.
