Like, the first full-timer? The Cubs had Beth Mowins calling TV games here and there, but they have a lot of part-timers coming and going all season.

Yes, Cavnar will be a fulltime play by play announcer. I wish it wasn't the A's just because of how dysfunctional that franchise is, but good for her. I enjoy her on MLB Network Radio on Sirius.

The latest billionaire owner who wants a new stadium complex and neighborhood and wants the city to pay $2 billion for it is... John Sherman of the Royals. And he wants to put it in the middle of the Crossroads arts and entertainment district and bulldoze a bunch of businesses.

Fuck him.

Even I'm cold about this one. I like Kauffman Stadium, it's a perfectly good ballpark and doesn't need to be replaced. AND it's super easy to find, it's right where I-435 meets I-70.

I mean, I sort of understand why the Royals want out (they're into this "ballpark village" stuff as much as anyone), and I'm sure the Chiefs won't mind having that huge-ass parking lot all to themselves, but I'm still gonna miss the K.

Plus, those hotels around the stadium are probably not going to survive once the Royals leave. I'm sure the Chiefs bring in a lot of hotel traffic but football season only goes so far.

Edit: I'm sure the new stadium will still be called Kauffman something. Kauffman Field, Kauffman Park, etc. That name still carries a lot of weight with the Royals.

Rob Manfred says he'll retire when his contract runs out in January 2029. I assume he'll want to get the two expansion teams announced by then as part of his legacy.

The dream is over... :weep:
More like the nightmare is over, but not near soon enough. I only hope his replacement is less of a clown.

Made a few years ago....

The Nats have been for sale for the past two years. Mark Lerner has decided to keep the team.

This should wind everyone up.

Jerry Reinsdorf would very much like the Illinois legislature to give him a billion dollars for a new South Loop baseball park for the White Sox.

Surprise, surprise. More billionaires pleading poverty.

Let 'em go, Phoenix. Spend the money on something more useful.
