Why did you expect them to keep him after completely alienating the owner, general manager, coaching staff, players, fans, and media? That was a disaster from the day his name was mentioned.
Yeah, pretty amazing run by Oakland. It'll be interesting to see if they can keep the momentum going. What an amazing run the A's are on, but it seemed like when Hamilton dropped the ball (and seeing the highlight it looked like he wasn't trying to catch it, which considering this is a game for the division, seemed way out of character for him) the Rangers just waved the white flag and surrendered. The floodgates were open and the A's took advantage beautifully. I don't think anyone wants to play the A's right now, as they are the hottest team in baseball.

Too right. Perhaps there is a kernel of truth to the "smear machine" in general, but in this case, Bobby deserved it.
So who's going to be the next Sox manager? Varitek? They always say catchers make the best managers, and AFAIK Tek is pretty much the anti-Bobby in terms of the level of respect that players, fans, etc. have for him.
Totally rediculus, but I guess that sums up the Red Sox organization in general.
