MLB Chatter 2008

I'm guessing they weren't assuming there would be a Game 7 and haven't yet revised their schedule.

Ah, yes, but now they do know, don't they? Schedule's still wrong then.

Fucking DVR got it wrong tonight, though. It listed the game as being three hours earlier than when it actually was!! :scream: So I got a bunch of crap like Sex and the City, King of Queens, and this Steve Harvey bullshit, and about an hour of the actual game.

(And yes, I'm well aware of the technical problems that TBS was having. But this went way, way, way beyond that. If the DVR listing got it wrong last night, it could do it again. It says there's a game tomorrow night, but if TBS' schedule doesn't have it, who's right?)

TBS was a disgrace tonight. It's kinda a big deal, how do you not have a backup for your router if you are showing an important live event? And how does it take 30 minutes to fix? MLB should attempt to opt out of their deal with them, TBS has been pretty terrible for baseball anyway, and this isn't a point in their favor.

Also, THANK YOU red sox! THAT was more like the team Boston fans have been watching all year. After an ugly 3 game funk, they've turned it back on and played some ball. Wondering if this just cost Tampa the series, if it gets in their heads and they try to do too much under pressure. Either way, the Sox are playing their game and seem pretty relaxed, making pitchers work again like they are known for. And they've at least saved themselves from shame, if they had lost a couple of games ago, it would have been sad. Now they've put up a decent fight, and it's a one-game playoff for the world series. And all they've got to send out to the mound is Lester, their Ace :D

Apparently they DID have a backup - it got taken down too.

The game ended at midnight people of course TBS isn't running around adding it to the schedule at fucking midnight, everyone calm their asses down.

That said, what the fuck are they doing? I think Fox should show the game tomorrow night, maybe both in case something happens... again?

Oh, yes, because one or two lines of a schedule is SO hard to update on a webpage. :p

They already had a near-riot at the Cask & Flagon because of this technical crap, if it happens again I think TBS should lose their contract with MLB. And then there's the schedule problems that seem to be cropping up...Fox is looking pretty good right now.

And dammit, now that I mentioned the C&F and remembered how  their sandwiches are, I'm hungry. :scream:

The Rays will win, and deserve so after 104 wins, and 170+ games. They should have won games ago, but a win is a win.

Good luck Rays in the World Series, make the AL proud!

And the Rays do win. Hard fought on both sides, but the Rays just had that little bit of extra gas in the tank.

I sense a new AL East rivalry for 2009.

Well the Rays win it 3-1...dammit. Congrats to the Rays and their real fans...the ones that have been there since day one...not the ones that just started going this year.

I actually can't say I am too upset, I am actually not real upset at all...it was a good competitive game tonight, and a good competitive series. The Sox were less then 100% and they pushed the Rays to the brink, but unfortunately it was not to be. You can only do so much with spare parts filling holes in the lineup, and injuries to big players. It sucks to loose, but hey, they fought hard for the whole series and didn't give up.

And Matt Garza pitched a hell of a game tonight, I can't take that away from him.

It should be an interesting offseason for the Sox, and I am looking forward to it. I am also looking forward to getting a good night sleep now.

GO PHILLIES! (Yes that is part bitter Sox fan, but it also in part to me living in this city, and being friends with a lot of Philly fans. I hope they win for them.)

YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! GO RAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I'm feeling hot, excited, and has a sore throat... :rommie:

But at least my heart wont be in suspense mode until Wednesday!!!!! :rommie:

Congrats to the Rays and their fans. I wish the Sox could have pulled it out, but it's hard to argue against the young upstarts. Should be a good Series. :techman:

Yep, the Rays just played better ball, and no, I'm not that upset since the Sox went deep into October even with all their injuries (and there were a lot, if you count them all up). Congrats and best of luck to the Rays, but I won't have a dog in this fight.

Big Ups to the AL Champs Tampa Bay. Now go and curbstomp the Phillies.

By the way, F that ump cause Price struck out Drew in the 9th. I can`t wait to see Price embarrass Howard and Utley.

If you mean Bay...then yes he did. But atleast there he checked with the first base ump, unlike with the Drew check swing with the bases loaded where it was the same thing and the ump called it himself.

Thats the only moment in the game that I look at and go well shit. There is nothing there for me to second guess, or something Francona or the team should have done different. They just lost, which I guess is why I'm not upset about it.

Well done Rays. That was a clutch, and scary last couple of innings and I'm glad the Rays were able to pull it out. Everyone is saying that Bud Selig and ESPN and Fox are weeping now because the ratings might be low, but I say good. Let them cry in their soup. What happened tonight is great for baseball in that two teams outside of the media darlings are going to the world series and they were the best two teams in their respective leagues. I think this series will be excellent and finally, we get one that's worth watching. I can't wait.

Congrats to the Rays, condolences to the BoSox. I honestly didn't care who won the series because I find out that, if I root for a team to win one series, they have a good shot of winning again when playing against my team. Plus, I think both teams would be interesting to play.

Once the series starts, I devote my full Philly passion in hating the other team, but at the moment, I'm still in a friendly mood. I hope the Rays and the Phillies have an entertaining series (I also hope that Red Sox nation doesn't drop out and actually watches the series. I do think this will be an exciting one).

Hey now! That's not fair. 42,000 of the 45,000 fans at Tropicana Field Sunday night have been waiting for WEEKS to see their beloved team make it to the World Series!

On a side note, there are only three teams left who have never been to the World Series.

Major congratulations to the Rays for the superb showing. This series was a microcosm of the season, it seemed. Every time it seemed like the Rays might fold after all, they sucked it up and did what they had to to get the needed win. What's nice about the MLB playoffs, is that the team who wins the chanmpionship really earns it... and they earned it for certain. You have to wonder if the results would have been different were the BoSox completely healthy, but that's part of the game.
