MLB Chatter 2008

Isn't this like the fourth straight game in which Longoria has hit a home run?

And what's this rumor about Varitek and the Sox parting ways?

Yeah really. It just wasn't our year. To many injuries, to much incostistancy from the lineup. But hey, we won last year, and they are built to be competitive for many years to come, and I guess thats all one can ask from a franchise.

As for the Varitek thing...if you are referring to my comments earlier, his contract is up this year. There are those who think his diminishing bat hurts the lineup too much, which it might. But he is SOOO good behind the plate, it makes it hard to replace him, and the Sox have no good catching prospects. Hopefully they can resign him for maybe a two year deal, and have him take a catcher under his wing so he can teach him his Kung Fu.

Regarding Varitek, I was referring to this blurb on SI.com.

This ALCS is not turning out like I thought it would. The three games in Boston... the Rays have so far outscored the Sox 29-5. Hollywood had to have written this out......

^ Hang on there, Servo. Big Papi might have just put us back in the game. Three-run jack to right plus a Pedroia RBI immediately beforehand.

Well I never put too much stock into the truth and rumors site anyway, but yes there is a real possiblity he won't return.

And NOW the Sox start hitting...YOU'RE KIDDING ME!:scream:

It's about bloody time he made a big hit!!

And now Drew joins the fun with a two-run jack to the right field grandstands. Rays 7, Sox 6 now.

EDIT: Crisp drives in Kotsay to tie it at 7 going into the 9th. Holy crap.

Great job BoSox, now win the game.

Note, I don't actually care who wins the series, but I know the Red Sox are more competetive than the series score indicates, so I'm glad they came back this game.

J. D. FUCKIN' DREW

Sox win 8-7. Man, that was some good baseball. :techman:

Now I think they should pitch Lester in Game 6 (on full rest) and use Beckett in Game 7 (if we get there) with Byrd ready to take over at the first sign of trouble.

Boston still won't win the next too, this isn't last year's team.

That very well may be true, but the Sox have lived to play another day, and that's what counts in the end. This was just a great game of baseball.

I'm beginning to be convinced that the Sox are incapable of dying ever, and will continue to flirt with elimination just to mock people who want them to lose before charging on to the WS.
