MLB Chatter 2008

On the plus side, San Diego's bullpen and starting hitting are going to be totally gassed today, so the Diamondbacks will have an easier time of it.

On the minus side, I was really hoping to get to see Jake Peavy go up against the D-Backs this series. I didn't know he was playing yesterday.

Ah well. I'll take the good with the bad.

Diamond backs are going down!!! yes, I watched the ENTIRE 22 inning game last night, was doing home work. But our pitching has always done good against your snake heads!!! Should be a good series

^You sure about that?

Colorado - a team which has traditionally owned us - has lost 5 of 6 to us this year.

Greg Maddux - tonight's starter for the Padres - is 1-12 career vs the Dbacks.

A 22 Inning game? So that means they had a 7th, 14th, and 21st inning stretch!

Incredible, the game was scoreless through the first 12 innings. How many people were left when the game ended?

I find your enthusiasm to be a credit to your team's fanbase, but most likely misplaced.

Captain Ice: They are billing Chris Young as tonight's starter, not Greg Maddux. He's apparently pitching tomorrow.

EDIT: I stand corrected. Muscle stiffness pushes Chris Young to Saturday, Maddux vs. Haren tonight.

Joy. :)

King David is beasting this season. That Gold Glove he won last year is aight but that World Series ring and MVP trophy he is gonna have is gonna be a good look.

Speaking of the Mets. Mr. Met>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Phillie Phanatic.

Tomorrow its gonna be party time as we sweep up the Phils in their own park

Wow, I can't believe how the Diamondbacks are just completely owning everyone they face this year! I better enjoy it while it lasts.

Don't count on it. Even if they make it to the series, they still are gonna have to face an AL team, ie the Red Sox, Mariners, Indians or Angels...who are all better then the Mets.

Got back from Progressive Field a little while ago. I went with some folks from work who are Boston fans.
Which one is Progressive? I hate these corporate named stadiums. I don't care about the name itself, but they change so often as companies get bought, go bankrupt, etc.

It's the Cleveland Indians stadium. Very nice for us to win an ALCS rematch in their house.

The Sox have been making a habit of come-from-behind victories recently.

It also seems that Big Papi is back with his grand slam last night.

I went to the Saturday Braves-Dodgers game. Very fun. I watched the Mets-Phillies game on ESPN last night. I was kind of hoping they would just beat each other... but oh well. ;)

St. Louis wasn`t better then the Tigers and from what I heard The Mets wern`t better then the Orioles in 69 or the Boston in 86. If you get on a nice hot streak at the right time you can ride it all the way to the promised land. Nothing would be nicer then opening up Citifield next year with a World Series banner while the Yanks open up their new park with outragous ticket prices.

While any pain to the Yankees is great to me, the examples you set for the World Series are usually the exception not the rule. I mean anything can happen, but the Mets have a long way to go before they can start thinking World Series. I still think the team out of the NL will be the Diamondbacks. They are solid in every aspect.

Conversely, if a team goes in the toilet at the wrong time, it can have one of the great late season collapses of all-time and not even sniff the World Series. The '07 Mets, for example.

True. Thats the way it works. If the team goes on a hot streak, they win, if they suck, they loose. Incredible...my god that collapse still has to sting.

Now if the Giants could play the Cardinals every day and only pitch Lincecum.

Hey, the pitching staff isn't that bad. Yeah Cain had a bad night and Zito sucks, but Sanchez has been great, Lincecum is Linecum, and Corraia hasn't been that bad. In fact, the pitching staff has been the Giants best thing this year. Now they're hitting and life is good.
