Yeah, they're 11.5 games up in the East and the only even remotely good teams they have on the final two months of the schedule are the Giants and Dodgers. Arguably the Yankees. Otherwise, they get to feast on the rest of the NL East and shitty teams like the Cardinals, Rockies, Pirates and Cubs.

For the Braves to lose the division would require a 1969 Cubs-level meltdown in August and September.

I don't know WTF is up with the Cubs. They kept Bellinger (a smart move), re-acquired Jeimer Candelario from the gNats (maybe a slight improvement over Madrigal & Wisdom the K machine, not sure), then traded 2 pitchers for 1 to Tampa (pitching is a serious weak area right now).

Cubs put a good old-fashioned shellacking on the Reds last night. 20-9 and would have been 20-5 but Anthony Kay just couldn't get that last out. No wonder he's not in close games lately.

Keimer Candelario went 4-5 and scored twice. Morel and Barnhart were the weakest links. I think Morel needs a couple days off.

If you're not checked out right away (shocking but it happens) then you can miss some of the symptoms, as fatigue, sleepiness, and headaches can be explained by other things. Yes, I would hope that the trainers and staff would notice, but concussions are not something someone automatically goes, "Yup, that's what I got." A classmate of mine had one and didn't realize it until a week later and only because they went on a unusual spending spree and showed poor impulse control and followed up with her mom who recognized the signs.

The thing is, this isn't the first time the Yankees have grossly mismanaged a concussion. They completely botched Clint Frazier's concussion a few years ago, resulting in his career being essentially over before it even began.

Mariners win 9-7 last night against the A's which extends their winning streak to ten straight games and 2 1/2 out of the wild card spot. The As have dropped six of their last eight games.

At this point I'm still rooting for Oakland to beat the Philadelphia A's 1916 record of 36 and 117, which gave them a winning percentage of .235, the worst in the modern era. In a 162-game season, that would mean a record of 37-125 or worse to make a new record, and 38-124 to tie. Come on, guys, you can do it!
