I actually find it hard to believe that this is literally the first time, in all baseball history, that the Dodgers and Giants have ever met in the postseason...
Yup, that sums up my feelings about that whole thing. Plus, it's simply weird that call couldn't be reviewed...all because of where the out took place. So damn weird and arbitrary. When does a little common sense seep into a baseball game? (I know. Commons sense in baseball?) The infamous "unreviewable" trapped popup in the Atlanta/Milwaukee game is a prime example of how fubar sports can be. Everyone in the stadium, including the six umpires, knew that that popup was not caught and yet the men in blue had to say, with straight faces, that the batter was out because the ump on the scene blew the call. Closeups of the umpires after the call showed really embarassed guys. Just because a call is deemed not subject to review doesn't mean the umps can't correct the bad call, does it? Bet they're really glad it didn't cost the Braves the game.
Considering that such a feat would only be possible between 1994 (the beginning of the three-division alignment and Wild Card teams) and the present, I don't.I actually find it hard to believe that this is literally the first time, in all baseball history, that the Dodgers and Giants have ever met in the postseason...

The Dodgers and Giants did face off in best of three tie-breakers for the pennant in 1951 and 1962 (the Giants won both times and advanced to the WS), but those aren't considered part of the postseason.
It is really chaotic here in San Francisco, there's some true animosity towards the Dodgers* even tho the Giants had won 3 World Series in 2010, 2012, and 2014. My Mom is a Giants fan but my Dad, BF and rest of us are Yankees fans so we don't have much investment in this post-season except we did have an interest watching the Red Sox play against the Rays... the outcome was sick to our stomachs. We're rooting for the Giants to win because they're our home town team and cheerleaders for Mom who's wearing her gear ever since her team has returned to the post season.I actually find it hard to believe that this is literally the first time, in all baseball history, that the Dodgers and Giants have ever met in the postseason...

The Dodgers/Giants series was pretty fucking good.
Not sure about that check-swing call, but still a good series.
