ala: the NBA and NHL? (not 6 teams per league in those, just the seeding). I mean, they still have divisions for those sports, they just no longer have any bearing on anything.

The NHL went back to making the divisions matter, hence why Toronto & Boston played in the first round for much of the last decade.

In my opinion, divisions are a relic of the past. In an era where players are jumping on a jet and flying in relative short bursts across the continent, is there really a need to hold onto them outside of raising a banner and selling hats/t-shirts?

On a totally selfish note, the Blue Jays are stuck in a division where they will have a one in four chance on a yearly basis to win the division, relegated most of the time to a one game playoff if they manage to beat the other two that don't win the division to even get into that one game playoff.

Why not put all sixteen teams in each league in one big list and take the top six or eight and get the best teams in the playoffs?

The Sox kinda limped into the postseason but seeing them knock the Yankees out makes it all better.

I wouldn't give a damn if they got into the playoffs below .500 as long the Yankees doesn't make it to the World Series...

Damn, the Yankees lost. The only thing that could make people in this forum like the Astros is that the Astros beat the Yankees in post season, and now that's not going to happen.

I'm all alone rooting for the Astros again.

Quite ironic if the Astros and Red Sox meet in the ALCS. They could have a cheating contest.

Luis Rojas was already fired, and now unsurprisingly so has Jayce Tingler.

But OTOH, the Cubs are looking to extend yes-man(ager) David Ross, so there's that, eh @Timby ?

I'm not even paying attention until Friday when the Braves series starts. Fingers crossed for a Durham Bulls World Series!

Part of me hopes the Dodgers lose tonight. It would burn the whole archaic wild card system down.

My brother in law likes them. The deck was stacked from the beginning for me to try and like the Astros.

I was saying that on occasion in the early 70's, but I have gotten over it. :brickwall:

John Billingsley is a huge Dodgers fan. I’m sure he was happy about all that…

As a Cardinals fan, I am disappointed but in no way surprised thar Shildt blew it by putting Reyes in.

Now I'll root for anyone beating the teams I don't like (Red Sox, Braves, Astros, Dodgers).

Jake Meyers (who went to my old high school) got the first RBI for the Asterisks tonight.
