MLB 2021 season: Corn-Driven Humidity

Positive move by MLB.

Beginning in the 2022 season, Major League Baseball will require all 30 teams to provide housing for all minor league players, ESPN.com’s Jeff Passan reports. The owners agreed to the decision via unanimous vote last month, though details of the plan are still being worked out, such as whether the teams will have to directly provide the housing, or if players’ stipends will be increased with more money to be specifically directed towards renting or other accommodations.

Astros now up 3-2 in the ALCS with the series returning to Houston for the final one or two games. :D

I couldn't care less about who wins that series. Possibly two of the most hated teams in the league. No offence Spider.

Really, outside of the Tomahawk chop, I don't have anything against Atlanta and would be cheering for them out of the teams remaining.

Everyone has their "favorite" teams to hate on, for myself it's the Dodgers and Yankees. No biggie. The Astros will always have that asterisk on their title. I'd like to see them beat the Dodgers again in the WS without an asterisk this time.

This series really is I think a microcosm of the Red Sox season. They start terrible, then spend half a year looking unbeatable, only to wilt for the other half with bad pitching and awful defense.

Houston was always the better team on paper, so there's no shame in losing to them. That won't stop the media around here from calling for scalps though, despite the fact they were never supposed to get this far to begin with. I do wish they'd closed out Fenway with at least a competitive performance, but oh well.

I don't much care for the chop either, but at least it's not the team that's doing it. Just the fans. I see no real reason to hate the Braves for something that they themselves are not actually doing.

Theoretically they could say: "hey, we don't want our fans to do this anymore." They are just kinda letting it happen.

I don't know the history of "Braves" outside of it coming from Boston, maybe?

They first started calling themselves the Braves in 1912, because their owner at the time (James Gaffney) was part of NYC's Tammany Hall political machine, which used an Indian chief as their symbol.

I've got no problem with the Chop. It started many years ago at Florida State and Braves fans co-opted it. Until now, I've never heard any negatives about the Chop or the Braves and I lived in Atlanta for 20 years.

I have a bit of a soft spot for the Astro-ricks.

I remember Dusty fondly from when he managed The Red-Legs. o/c the front office screwed him as they always do, the bat rack/roster was half full, "ain't our fault". "Hired to be Fired."

Throw someone to The Lions, then proclaim "rebuild".

Dusty did well with what he had.

I went to a game in 2016 while visiting family in Braselton and when it started for the first time, I looked around and was like "is this really happening?". It just seemed really odd that given the uproar about "Indians" that it would still be kosher.

The Braves are going to the World Series for the first time this millennium!!!

...that said, as excited as I am about this victory, my heart breaks for Ronald Acuña. He should be there with them.
