Joe Maddon's lovechild Ian Happ is back on the ML club. So far, 0/7 with 4 BB's and 3 K's.

Yeah, he really worked on things at AAA. He struck out 31% of the time down there.

At least the Cubs didn't try to get Coghlan back yet again.

There's still 2 days

I'm still glad Hoss is ours. If only he'd get really hot.

Word is that they're really hot on Shane Greene and trying desperately to make a deal. Which ... yeah, no. Dude's pitching out of his mind, completely outside of his peripherals, and he's a two-pitch reliever. I get that the Cubs' bullpen sucks but this is not the year to sell what little is left of the farm for a guy who is statistically likely to regress to replacement-level. If the Cubs make the playoffs, they'll get bounced in either the wild card play-in game or the NLDS. The bats and the pitching simply aren't there.

It would be nice if his batting average weren't hovering around the Mendoza line.

^Last year, I asked you if Maddon was managing for his job, and you indicated that he should be. Do you still feel that way given the Cubs’ struggles?

Well, he pretty much is managing for his job, given that the Cubs have not extended his contract, which ends after this season. And I've felt for a long time that it's very clear that he and Theo Epstein aren't on the same page. That the front office had to actually order him to let the players know of the lineup prior to a series (as opposed to surprising everyone a few hours before the game) and force players to take batting practice instead of letting it be optional just screams that Epstein is tired of Maddon's lackadaisical, shrugging, "eh, whatever" attitude. I mean, wife-beater and human piece of trash Addison Russell literally admitted that he didn't know the team's signs.

I'd bet money there's a pretty extensive text message history between Epstein and Joe Girardi.

This looks really good, I'm going to Santa Monica next July and I'm going to try and go to at least a Dodger game.

I don't blame Puig for being pissed-off tonight. I mean ... Cleveland fucking sucks. I did a drive across the entire state of Ohio a few years back for work, and Cleveland was, by far, the most miserable place in which we stopped.

(Anyone who posts the Drew Carey "Cleveland Rocks" video is banned. Don't tempt me.)

I'm so fucking sick of these retaliatory back-and-forth pitches between times that lead to brawls. It shouldn't have any business in baseball (yeah, yeah, I know the history but still).

"Gentleman! You can't fight in here! This is baseball!"

(With apologies to Peter Sellers and Stanley Kubrick)

The problem with Chavez Ravine is access. Trying to get to it is a pain in the ass. There's no place to stay and walk.

Angels Stadium is way better.

I've heard talk of a gondola going between LA Union Station and the stadium.

Yes, I think they're going ahead with that.

That should give you an idea of how inaccessible the stadium is. The freeways around it (the 5 and the 110) are from the 40's. No shoulder going around the interchange. No hotels or bars or restaurants in sight.

I actually like Dodger Stadium itself, except for one thing: the food.

Without a doubt, THE worst hot dog I have ever eaten in my life. It was burned up and shriveled, like they'd taken a blowtorch to it. :barf:

Stadium hot dogs are generally pretty well-known for being unsanitary.

The ones at GABP in Cincinnati, though... SKYLINE CHILI cheese dogs are the best.

Speaking of Cincinnati...wow. What the hell was Amir Garrett thinking? :wtf:
