On the night the Angels honored the late Tyler Skaggs, they combined for a no-hitter. This is why Baseball is awesome. :(

An amazing night. Tyler's mom threw a perfect strike on the ceremonial first pitch. All the players wore Skaggs' jersey.

    Trout had 6 RBI

    A perfect evening.

The Mets have been actively shopping Zack Wheeler, figuring--rightfully so--they could get a pretty decent return for him.

He went on the IL today with shoulder fatigue pending an MRI (translation: his rotator cuff is probably busted).

Cubs trade Mike Montgomery for Martin Maldonado.

Um. Okay, that's probably a sign that Contreras is hurt worse than they've been letting on.

The Mets' medical staff strikes again?

Apparently Montgomery requested a trade earlier in the year, but the Cubs waited for a need to arise. Hopfilly Willi isn't out for long. It is a foot (arch) injury, and that can't be easy for a catcher to "deal with".

Yeah, Montgomery was very openly unhappy about his swing role even last year, and said that he wanted to start or wanted to be traded.

Trading him for Maldonado, though, considering he hits about as well as a piece of boiled pork, makes me think that Caratini is on the block.

Caratini is the only real ML ready catcher other then Willi the Cubs have. Would be a bad idea to trade him, but he is probably pretty valuable. They have a lot of catchers in the MiL's though.

And last night, Kyle "Hoss" Schwarber hits his first walk-off hit of any kind, a 10th inning home run. I'm glad they never traded Hoss, I love that guy, and he can definitely improve in the OF even more than he has.

    That .231 / .324 / .481 slash, though...

I'm still hoping he comes around. Did you see his 2 failed attempts at being Jason Heyward Sunday?

Yeah, I was texting with my girlfriend and writing an article and had the game on in the background. The big oaf really needs to keep his diet up, though. He hasn't ballooned up like he did after April / May last year, but he's a beefy boy and still projects as an eventual DH.

    Tulo has retired.

Dude could have been an all-time great if he didn't have the injury bug. When he was actually healthy, he was amazing.

The Astros, our cosmic heros from the stars, will eventually defeat the evil Yankee empire and regain control of the galaxy.

If it’s the sequel, shouldn’t the empire strike back?

The Yankees will play the Klingons in the ALDS, where as the Astros will draw the Pakleds. We'll rest our starters while the Yankees get hammered by the Klingons, only surviving a brutal 15 inning 7th game where no less than three Yankees quite literally lost their heads. Easy pickin's.
