So who is Missy? We'll find out soon but I thought a poll would be interesting for at least a bit.

A totally new character-Like Madam Kovarian or Tasha Lem, a new female nemesis for the Doctor.

An evil 'echo' of Clara-Popular theory, she does look a bit like Jenna and dresses similar to her governess appearence in Snowmen.

An evil future version of Clara-Sort of the same thing, except not an Echo

A female regeneration of the Master-Another popular theory, given we haven't seen the character yet (totally skipping over the Matt smith era)

A corrupted evil River Song-Could explain how the Nethersphere works-maybe "heaven" is the library computer?

The Rani-A female time lord from the classic series who was evil, and mainly did unethical biological experiments instead of trying to take over the universe. Cybermen might be right up for alley.

Romana-The good female timelord from the classic series, although it seems she plays a role in the recently reopened Doctor Who exhibit already.

The Doctor-A future incarnation possibly that's become evil? We've had a few evil Doctors over the years, such as the Dream Lord and the Valeyard.

The Great Intelligence-In addition to that Richard E. Grant version the GI has taken other forms, and the Victorian outfit would fit with that. Then again he was sort of already used enough last season.

Other-Or could be somebody else entirely.

I voted for what I want her to be (a female regeneration of The Master), but knowing Moffat, its probably just some new character we've never heard of, which to me would just feel like a waste at this point, but seems the most likely scenario.

It seems like her identity might be important judging by the trailers-we see her go "You know who I am" (Although the Doctor seems somewhat confused in his reaction, at least that's the way it was edited).

My money would be on a deliberately confusing edit for the trailer.

Moffat is likely deeply pissed about the script leak this year, he isn't going to spoiler anything himself.

Female Master would be great but it's going to be some timey-wimey crap with Clara (or one of the Claras), so it can turn out she gave herself the TARDIS phone number.

I believe Missy's a combination of two of those options, an evil echo of Clara from Name of the Doctor, merged somehow with the Great Intelligence.

An evil echo of Clara. I was starting to lean this way before but the latest preview swayed me more. When the Doctor asked who she was, and she was saying do keep up, I'm Missy.

It's said as though the name itself should mean something. The name itself is meaningful. "I'm Missy", as if that was self explanatory. And, the only way Missy means something itself is as Miss C for Miss Clara.

The advance review copies apparently omit a clip where her identity is revealed - so I agree that it's probably someone we already know in a new guise. I also WANT her to be a new Master, but s/he has never been one to go for outfits like that in any incarnation. Something to do with Clara's fractured nature is the best option IMO.

There are so many so many options but I think the most likely one is a new character, and to be honest I hope it's that, I don't want the Master being ruined. Also, I wonder why a female Valeyard has crossed no ones minds before. And how come Black Guardian hasn't popped up on this poll but there's two Clara options?

This is probably the only episode this season I want the big spoiler for. Tired of playing the guessing game. It's probably going to be Clara.

She says something about having chosen Clara, so Clara's off my list.

She has the mannerisms, dress sense and Doctor fetish you might expect from a version/relative/groupie of the Master, but if so then I'd like to see Moffat give us a new and daring take on the character.

The Black Guardian is an outside possibility, but I think he's never even been mentioned in in NuWho.

River's more hands-on than Missy, and she wasn't his boyfriend prior to her Alex Kingston incarnation.

Probably not the GI, since Clara was such a thorn in its side.

Romana is conceivable, but again she hasn't been mentioned and agin her character is very different.

Mistress of the Land Of Fiction is an intriguing idea (and not mutually exclusive with the Master possibility) but a bit meta. It could involve a way of addressing the Doctor's new (but familiar) face and Missy's comment about the accent, though.

Probably not Susan, or the boyfriend comments need explaining.

Possibly not an avatar of the TARDIS, although soul-catching and control over of the Doctor's accent could be well within the old girl's abilities. Conceivably, the issue of the Doctor's familiar appearance could be connected with this.

I'm going with "female Master". Possibly Moffat testing the waters for a female Doctor.

I'm really hoping that it's not Clara. It's just to obvious, which is one of the reasons I figure it'll end up being her. We need to get away from the Impossible Girl stuff and get back to focusing on the Doctor.

She is death herself, who is convinced the Doctor loves her because he is always sending her new guests.

I suppose she could be Dead!Romana, or Romana's equivalent of the Valeyard, bent on revenge on the Doctor who left her in the Time War.

She says something about having chosen Clara, so Clara's off my list.

That's a line which is open to interpretation. "My Clara, I chose you well." Some have suggested she's one of the Claras from Name of the Doctor who somehow was aware of what she was and set off in search of the original Clara, and that the line suggests she's satisfied that the Clara she chose is indeed the original.

I think if it was Romana or the Rani, I think most of the audience would go "WHO?!"

Neither have appeared, neither have even been mentioned. A reveal like that would fall flat on most of the current viewing audience.

It's either the Master or some version of Clara, is my bet.
