missing race? please help

I once watched an episod of star trek many years ago... i cant remember if it was voyager or next generation. A powerful race from an unexplored quadrant appears late in the episode to help (i think) star fleet & then dissappars again. There tehnology apparently far more advanced then star fleet. who were they? what was te episode? did they appear again? please help

NEVER seen an episode like that and i've seen them all many times over and my memory is pretty good.

Ive seen all of TNG and Voyager and this doesn't even ring a bell. It also doesn't seem like DS9's style. You are probably remembering it wrong.

The Cytherians reportedly gave the Federation (via the Enterprise) a huge amount of information that according to Picard "it would take decades to examine" or something to that effect.

But remember, information alone would not necessarily elevate the technology level of the Federation.

If aliens came down today and gave Americans several volumes of technical manuals detailing how their stardrive engines work, that doesn't mean we could start building ships.

yes my recollection of the episode is poor... but it was defo tng or voyager... in the end of the episode a race appears... the captain says if they are enemies they are too powerful but they end up being not so hostile and helping star fleet... they have amazing technology but then leave. i dont know if we actually see them or not?

no its not nth degree... its not 1 alien.. its like an advanced race has been found by starfleet on some planet and they are scared because they have seen that they are way way way stronger than mere humans.... but they leave without confrontation. captain says we may meet again

may be it was a tng movie? im sure itt was voyager

Maybe those evolved dino-creatures in Voyager's "Distant Origin"? Except that they were central to the whole episode; they didn't just show up at the end.

That doesn't match any episodes I can think of but the closest match would be Distant Origin in my opinion.

And the writers and SPFX guys deliberately inferred that these beings were the same race as the renegade, imprisoned God Entity of ST V - although it's not stated in the script of "The nth Degree".
