I just think it would have been nice if they could have tied those two together a little more strongly. Just a visual reference, like seeing Sisko in an escape pod, looking out of the window with that look on his face, as he watches the Defiant get destroyed, just like he watched the Saratoga get destroyed from the window of another escape pod.
I think that would have given the whole thing a much stronger character effect for Sisko. As it is, he basically just says "Damn," and off he goes.
I'm not saying he should have to be dragged kicking and screaming from the bridge - I think he's been through too much to be that undignified now - but give us something.
How about Nog gets knocked out against a bulkhead in the fight, and O'Brien plays the role of the Bolian Saratoga lieutenant - picks up the unconscious Nog and hands him off to an extra, saying, "Ensign, take the boy."
Something like that.
On a vaguely related point, does anyone else think that the entire climactic Final Battle scene of "The Changing Face of Evil," is done in kinda-slo-mo? But not in the kind of slo-mo that is deliberately used for dramatic purposes. It feels almost as if the show came in short in the editing room and they had to slow the speed of the film down so it would take up more time. Everyone's voices are lowered, they talk just that bit slower... it's weird.
