Misheard Lyrics

A recent re-watch of Apollo 13 reminded me, when I was younger I misheard Norman Greenbaum's "Spirit in the Sky" as saying "When I die in the name of duress" instead of "When I die and they lay me to rest." Naturally I wondered what on earth that was supposed to mean.

Another one Arrested Development's song Mr Wendal.

When I first heard the song way back when I thought it said "Mr Window"

I was watching a compilation of 80s one hit wonders and suddenly realized that the song by Johnny Hates Jazz is actually Shattered Dreams, not Shadow Dreams.

Yes..... Not just me then.

Suzy by Caravan Palace. "She's flashing death stars"

^ I love the line "where beer does flow and men chunder".

We all know what chundering means. (Hint: :barf: ) Is that something to be PROUD of? :wtf:

The strange part is that he's told that by an Aussie apparently living in Brussels. How can you live in Brussels and think the beer doesn't flow locally?

Anyway, as far as misheard lyrics go, the classic of classics remains:

Unlike most, it's not forced, you can clearly hear the "misheard" lines (except for the title, Tarja obviously sings a "w", not an "f").

Family friend misheard Hey Nineteen by Steely Dan:
(Make tonight a wonderful thing)
Say it again
(The QUAIL BONES)

The actual line is 'The cuervo gold'. Apparently she sang it wrong but quite loudly so someone was able to help correct her.

This song doesn't need misheard lyrics.. It's full of parts you can just babble.

''Dude looks like a lady'', my asteroids. Do the funky lady.

Plus, in the final line of THE JEFFERSONS theme song, ''we finally got a piece of the rahhhhhhhahhhhhhkakkkahahahhhhhhhhk.''

There was that line in the Jeffersons theme which goes "As long as we live, it's you and me baby, there ain't nothin' wrong with that". At first I thought it was "As long as we live, you're chewin' me baby". :guffaw:

Watching last week's Fear the Walking dead, an alcoholic character had the following song on replay in his head.

There is a line I always thought went, "Well I got down on my knees and I began to pray."

The subtites revealed the line is, "Well I got down on my knees and I pretend to pray."

^ It has been scientifically proven, through rigorous testing, that the Beach Boys' version is superior.

As for "Dude (Looks Like A Lady)"...I wonder, does Aerosmith even still perform that song live? In this day and age, a song like that... :shifty:
