^ I love the line "where beer does flow and men chunder". We all know what chundering means. (Hint: ) Is that something to be PROUD of?
After I misheard Nirvana the first time, this little cartoon scenario played out in my mind. Imagine a giant pile of potatoes sitting on the ground at a farmer's roadside stand. There are extra eyes in the pile watching customers who come along. Suddenly, Kurt Cobain shouts out a warning: There's alligators! They're in the taters!
This one happened to me the other day at work. My coworkers and I were listening to Van Halen's 'Panama' and when the song would reach the chorus we would all yell in unison 'Cannonball!'; because that's what we've all thought he's been singing all these years.
But I gotta say, the title of that video is almost painful. It's either "Billy Ocean Reacts..." or "Billy Ocean's Reactions", make up your mind.
I have a couple, not sure if they were mentioned yet: In Kate Bush's "Wuthering Heights" I misheard: "Too long I roam in the nigh" as "Gone to Rome for the night". So she went on a really short vacation? And in "Flesh and Bone" by the Killers I misheard: "A dark horse running in a fantasy" as "A dark horse running with dysentery" Which would just be mess and uncomfortable for everyone involved.
In the Christmas song "Mele Kalikimaka" (fun fact: That is the closest you can get, in the Hawaiian language, to saying the phrase "Merry Christmas"), there is a line that I always thought was: "Mele Kalikimaka is a wise way to say Merry Christmas to you" but it's actually "Mele Kalikimaka is HAWAII'S WAY" I felt mildly annoyed at myself when I realized that.
In Bon Jovi's Livin' on a Prayer I always hear "I don't care if we make it or not" as "I don't care if we're naked or not"...
I used to hear the main line in "Roll to Me" as more pessimistic, bittersweet, "The right time, the wrong me" (actually "The right time to roll to me").
From "Pokerface" "Can't read my, can't read my, no he can't read my" as "How you remind, you remind, you remind me" (and "I'll get him hot" as "I'll get him high" or "I'll get him hard" and "She's got me like nobody" as "She's got to want nobody").
Well, Lady Gaga and Nickelback are basically the same, anyway, right? Right? Guys, where are you going?
Remember that "Harmony" song by Erasure? (the song that was used in the Magic Robot Unicorn Attack game) For the longest time I thought it was "Hold on to the night's melody of shade" But now I learned it is "Hold on to the night, there will be no shame" I gotta say I like my version better I never understood that whole "Nickelback is the worstest band evar" meme. They had some nice songs, same with Cold Play.
