Misfits Series 2 (E4)

Can you imagine Primary School Jay?

:guffaw:
What I want to know is was Gilbert always so bitter or did the Job wear him down.

I imagine Gilbert was an idealistic young teacher who went in to the job wanting to teach bright young minds and help educate children to their fullest potential, only to run in to people like Jay and Neil...
I had a teacher like that, She once spent the whole lesson telling us how she could have been earning £50,000 a year in marketing or something, but she wanted to educate people.
I wonder if she had grown up yet.

Didn't quite have a teacher like that, though there was one who had a breakdown and was always a little weird after that. Once twatted me round the head cos I was sat there with my head in my hands with a headache then told me to leave for calling him a bastard, and another time he slapped my arse and called me babe... :wtf:

You had a pedo teacher lol.
Good job you never took part in a fashion show.

His name wasn't paedo Kennedy. I do remember one of the teachers always calling him 50s throwback Wilson though.

I think we have derailed another thread.

This week's episode was amazing - who on earth thought up the video-game idea? Give them a medal.

So Nathan sees dead people all the time then?

Well Howard Overman has written every episode, so I assume it's him. Wondering what he's going to do with Dirk Gently now.
Yep another great episode. I love that current Simon is starting to come out of his shell a bit "We kill him... *grins*" Nikki seems to have better use of the teleport power than the guy who originally had it did.

Yeah, I guess he does, I just thought that was the effect the drugs had, but I guess not. Seems weird.

I'm still surprised they killed off Future Simon so soon. They're not going down a road where time-travel means the current Simon eventually has go back in time and do all this as well, I guess (hope).

Consider Sarah Lee Approach to time travel.

If every time Simon goes back to save his girlfriend not realizing that he is creating a divergent parallel timeline because this isn't predestination, each time, each new divergent timeline will have ANOTHER Simon show up on top of the last one.

Although I'm willing to concede that this is predestination since Simon didn't even try to change the past... Even though Curtis Changes the past creating and visiting new time lines all the time.

Someone I've been talking to on Twitter has an idea. He doesn't true future Simon, he thinks he may have been stealing powers, since we've seen they can be transferred and doesn't believe he's actually dead.

Thing is though, Future Simon IS changing the past. If he wasnt there, Alisha would have died. Current Simon wouldnt have been able to stop him.

Future Simon has just decided this is the only way to stop it from happening. Of course, he could have got a gun and shot Video Game nutter way before he was a problem, but Nikki needed to have the teleportation power in order to 'rescue' them, or at least create the diversion to not have them killed.

Still doesnt explain why he couldn't have shot/jumped on Video Game Nutter in the 6 seconds he was lining up the shot on Alisha.

Although...he did say he needed this to happen for Simon to become him....perhaps he did just kill video game guy on one pass, but Alisha just stayed with future guy causing problems for current Simon.

Arrgh. I hate time travel.

But if Alisha originally got shot and killed, how could Future Simon have had a Future Relationship with her before he came back? I'm not getting bogged down in time travel - it's hurt me before!

An idea about the powers I read was interesting. Future Simon never used his invisibility, even when it clearly would have been the best option eg when he hid beside the bed in Alisha's bed. This could imply that he's gained a different power that replaced it?

One thing you'd have to say is he's incredibly accurate at throwing things - check out the peanut, and his paper planes. Accuracy is also prominent in his clocks and calculations in the lair. It's clear by now everyone's powers are born out of their personality - as Simon comes out of his shell, invisibility is no longer as strongly linked to him as in the beginning, leaving room for a new ability - some kind of precision, say - to manifest instead.

Unfortunately that precision didn't extend to buying a bullet-proof vest to go with all his other gear in the Batcave.

But if it's Predestination, she never died because he always has and always will save her in such an absolutely selfless way (it's not selfless because he doesn't have a choice and he's counting on the huge pay off in his favour making getting shot dead worth it.)that she falls unremittingly in love with his younger self even though he acts like a kiddy fiddler for the most part... Oh, if she had died, how was she ever in Las Vegas with the lad?

Photoshop or did Simon exhume her corpse and weekend at Bernies the girl?

She was never in any risk because he was always going to save her.

It was predestination.

(Though like in Stargate with the Golfing through the stargate puddle in the groundhogday episode, he may decide to have a break now and then letting her die for a change of pace, with the intention of saving her next time around by going back in time himself again instead of his younger self for the first time... And remember if he doesn't make her fall in love with him, she's not worth dying for... All those ticking clocks, if he was late or didn't do something precisely as he was supposed to , Simon may have needed several attempts to make her fall in love with him enough before he was willing to take the bullet to seal the deal which would mean that it's not predestination.)

Have I said how much I love Misfits? Because I really love Misfits. :D

This was another cracking episode, and I certainly didn't see the twist coming. At first I thought "well this is a little too weird even for this show" but then it came across as rather touching, all that ape wanted to be was human, and for a time he was. If it wasnt so weird I'd have said it couldve been a classic :P

Aside from the Ape thing, it was nice to see Simon come out of his shell even more (quiet) and everyone got rather busy this week.

Is next week the finale? It's a damn shame if it is, its come way too quickly. But then you can't have too much of a good thing I guess. This show better get a 3rd series.
