Should I buy this, simple question, but I just wan't to know if it's a decent read

You really should, all three stories are at least good. And IMO the TOS story is simply amazing. The second book is pretty good too. My favorite in that collection was KRAD's Voyager story.

I've always found it funny that, in every single alternate universe or mirror reality or alternate future or anything else, Kim always turns out to be a total hardcore badass, but in our reality he never shows any of those signs.

The only novel in either anthology worth anything is The Sorrows of Empire. I've completely forgotten about all the others.

Since it's getting a release as an expanded standalone novel, I'd say just wait for that.

I thought the New Frontier entry also had a surprisingly stark and brutal aesthetic that put a new spin on the whole Mirror Universe thing. Sucked me in so hard I read the whole thing in one sitting.

But the debates about PAD rage all over the place, and I'll grant you that outside of that entry, Mack's was definitely the best.

Yeah, The Sorrows of Empire really is in a class of it's own. I can't imagine what else Mack could add to improve it, but I'll probably buy it anyway just to find out.

Me too. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I hope these books become yearly events. With 285,000 universes to play in, that's a hell of a lot of books.

Okay, but why assume that number represents the entirety of the multiverse, rather than simply the number of parallel realities being encountered at that moment (especially considering that they were continuing to multiply)?

Besides, 285,000 would technically be 28.5 myriad universes.

I will definitely be buying The Sorrows of Empire when it comes out alone. And I would also love to see more Mirror and Myriad Universe stories.
