Mirror Tuvok

McCoy appears for nostalgia, not for lore.. ..or science.
But I still think it was cool to see him there. And Tuvok as well. And if it hadn't been the finale, I'd have probably even appreciated Riker and Troi popping up on Enterprise.

Why NOT have Tuvok turn up, if Tim Russ is available? It's easy fanservice, and it shows how the world is different in the MU. No Starfleet, no Voyager, no long trip, so Tuvok's right here, aiding the Terran Rebellion.

... no Maquis either, so probably no Eddington whining about his tomatoes?

Perhaps the MU does have its bright side.

What was the point in having Tuvok appear in Through the Looking Glass?

To prove they didn't forget Voyager, it was just a tie in. Think of Tuvok as just a prop like so many other bottles, boxes, plants, and other things that have appeared for no reason over various seasons just because they were in a previous series.

It's a Trek tradition.

Maybe Tim Russ just said "Hey, can I do your show?"
I'd have him replace Scruffy Bashir. That guy was boring.

Guess that's the way prime Julian would have turned out if he'd never been genetically enhanced on Adigeon Prime (obviously a Terran slave would never have access to that).

I'm not sure if there was a specific reason, but I certainly prefer a cross-over or established character to some nameless background Vulcan. Trek has enough of those.

I do wish that he had been given a bit more to do, though.

Why did Bashir and Quark appear on TNG? Because the shows filmed next door and they could easily arrange a short crossover, there's not much more to it.

I love that that Regular Tuvok has the same clothes as Mirror Tuvok in one episode.
The idea of people from one show appearing in another without fanfare was one of the things I loved about 90s Trek. Evek, Nechayev, Admiral Chekote, Admiral Hayes. Tom Riker turning up on DS9, Will Riker in Voyager. Quark in TNG and Voyager. Picard on DS9. O'Brien appearing in the TNG finale. It was really fun to see that happen!
