Mirror Sisko

Leviathan

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
A thought occurs (it's a rare event):

Mirror Sisko had his ship blown up by the alliance, gets replaced by Regular Sisko....briefly.

2 episodes later, he's got the Mirror Beard. After that he shaves his head, starts the war, covers up a murder, and poisons a planet.

...did The Sisko pull a Lorca?!

I wouldn't be surprised if he did.

Mirror Sisko is more like the bald Sisko. Very predictable intentions and not very smart; it seems when war is on your mind there must be wars everywhere. The mirror universe was to be opposite of the one we know, but in DS9 the conflicts of killing reflect each other.

The characters are more of the same whenever the writing suited it; O'Brien is a tech savvy guy in both worlds, and quite convenient. It's why I appreciated "A Mirror Darkly Part II" a lot more because those characters, everyone of them, were complete opposites and kinda scary. I sincerely doubt Mirror Sisko could lead anyone with his apathetic natural; he would only lead his followers to their deaths... which he did, including his own.

Problem with that theory is that the Prophets would be all like "Yeahhhhhno."

Mirror Sisko struck me as a guy who had the hero potential in him but never had any proper motivation to be heroic.

Forgetting the context the relevant episodes had shown, with Sisko struggling regarding "Pale Moonlight" and poisoning a planet to respond to the Maquis having poisoned a lot more planets (and done many other nasty things) and already trying everything else in the book... Sisko did not "pull a Lorca", nor is he anything like Lorca.

(It's a lovely thought, but there's too much nuance to rule out "Evil Sisko" having taken over. They sorta did that with Bashir anyway...)

The "mirror" was not a literal mechanism in the original episode. Yes, Kirk from the alternate universe was "evil Kirk," but not everyone was. Indeed, Spock was not in himself evil as he was resigned to the system that existed, and was amenable to logical arguments. Moreover, the Halkans were more or less the same.

The mirror, so to speak, was a means for the characters to see themselves and their circumstances in a different way. Absent the morals and the core of the Federation, Starfleet was a fearsome force. The mirror universe in DS9 (which became increasingly fatiguing after the first) was no different.

Indeed. Captain Forrest from IAMD, for example, was (although a hardass, like most Terrans) still a man of principle and basically a decent person who cared about his ship and crew.

And who, I might add, ultimately sacrificed his life to save others - just like his counterpart, Admiral Forrest, did.

Would the Prophets care? Heck, they're timeless creatures, maybe they always intended to create Prime Sisko in order for him to go to the mirror universe and be replaced by his mirror counterpart who will be prepared to handle a devastating interstellar war.

Unlike Mirror Lorca though, Mirror Sisko would have to contend with working alongside close friends, family, and co-workers, all of whom know him in an intimate way that can't be faked by reading all his personnel files and psych records.

And it's the eve of the Dominion War. If he's too suspicious, he'd be tested for Changelingism. Now's not the time for growing a goatee. Plus Section 31 or Starfleet Intelligence or whomever should have a protocol for scanning quantum signatures after the whole Lorca incident.

The prophets never gave a damn about the Dominion war. They repeatedly told Sisko to ignore his Starfleet reponsibilities and had to be bullied into stopping the Dominion reinforcement fleet. The only reason the Dominion War mattered to them at all is because Sisko and Bajor needed to survive and remain free at least long enough for the Pah-Wraiths to make their move and then be put back in the bottle so they wouldn't be able to damage the Celestial Temple.

True, but maybe they saw that their hand-crafted Sisko wasn't up to the task of taking out Kosst Amojan, so manipulated things to bring in a better Sisko from elsewhere in the multiverse.

Maybe the mirror universe itself is a manipulation from the Prophets in order to bring about a ruthless-enough Sisko. Probably not.

So mirror Prophets (Pah Wraiths?) made Mirror Sisko....who ended up inside the Celestial Temple (it is NOT linear). He's now in position to take it over.

It seems Mirror Sisko wasn't the son of a Prophet which is kinda weird since his (human) mother was forced in the (normal) universe to mate with his father. What made her do it in the Mirror Universe?

1. Sara couples willingly with Joseph to produce Benjamin
2. The Prophets learn the identity of the Emissary, return back in time to compel Sara to couple with Sisko to produce Benjamin.

Because of the unique way the Prophets interact with time, both of those are true for Benjamin Sisko. For Mirror Sisko, only the first is true.

It's funny though that in the mirror universe there are no mirror Prophets. Everybody has their counterpart except for the prophets.

Maybe the Pah Wraiths won? There was a wormhole, I believe, and it was artificial.

Still, the Pah-Wraiths had their followers in the (normal) universe. There are no such followers on Mirror Bajor. One would think that Mirror Bareil would have heard of them otherwise.

If I had to guess I'd say the Prophets in the mirror universe are one and the same with the prime universe.
