Mirror says New Console Room for Smith

Where does the idea that a classic Cyberman is somewhere in the TARDIS come from? Is this an Earthshock thing? I get the idea behind the Sontaran (the venus flytrap plant took care of him, though, remember?), but I'm puzzled over the Cyberman...

I don't remember Eathshock at all.

The first thing that came to mind reading that was Attack of the Cybermen - only because they were in the TARDIS waiting for the Doctor and Peri.

^I still think it'd be hilarious if they found a classic Cyberman who'd been wandering around the TARDIS for 300 years or so
Isn't there a Sontaran in there too?
There are also two Saudi special forces soldiers. (See Interference.)

And I may be misremembering, but I'd swear there was a novel where the Doctor is surprised to see an old woman in the TARDIS; he'd picked her up in her youth as a companion, only she got lost in the ship, aged over the decades that the Doctor had traveled elsewhere (and with others), and now, in her dotage, she came to the console room and left.

I haven't seen that TARDIS design for a while. If I remember he site it's on has other rooms designed. I only really remember a workshop which I quite liked.

I'm not really keen on seeing anything past the door sch as those two rooms which are clearly beyond it. It makes sense that can and would exsist in Who science but just doesn't feel right to me.

Asking for a TARDIS bottle show overlooks the fact than an episode exploring the TARDIS interior would require a slew of new sets. Which is the exact opposite of a bottle show!

^Post like Rorschach week. When does it end? Somebody knows when. Somebody knows.

Meanwhile, the idea that the Doctor loses a companion in the TARDIS to the point of old age is ludicrous. It's one of those ideas that's "neat" for a short-story or fanfic, but crumbles The Doctor's character if stared at too closely.

And does no one know why there would be a Cyberman in the TARDIS?

I was thinking the same thing. It would be very possible for them, though, to use real-world interiors (like the library in Silence in the Library) for parts of the TARDIS. Also, is the current TARDIS interior and the Torchwood Hub the only permanent sets available to them? Sure, they might have to build some "corridors" and "hallways". But, certainly an elegant mish-mash of "rooms" would compliment the otherworldly, strange environment of the TARDIS? As EMH pointed out, think of The Invasion of Time... :techman:

Oh sure, you can find fault with it. But, you can find fault with 99% of all Doctor Who ever made. So, if the only flaw is weak special effects and casting, then it's just another great episode of Classic Doctor Who. ;) Meanwhile, it gave us a broader, more imagined TARDIS interior than any episode before or after... :techman:

A Sontaran a Cyberman and a Companion enter the TARDIS...

There's a joke in there somewhere? ;)

I'm not surprised by this news.

I'd always assumed (and hoped) that any money saved in not having a full season this year would be spent on redesigning the console room.

I'm not a big fan of the current interior. I think it's too organic and the lighting is a bit murky at times, so you can't really make out if there are doors leading off.

I quite like the wooden look of the 4th Doctor's tertiary console room or the McGann movie (but possibly less of the cathedral stonework).

And as for "white, surgical, Apple Store" ... wasn't that the original interior anyway??
