I still pop in the Bourne Supremacy OST once in a while. It just tells the story of the film so well.

Lately, I've been getting into the Chrono Trigger OST. I'm still amazed at what Mitsuda was able to do and I'm sort of not surprised that he basically made himself sick with stress writing it. :lol

"Blade Runner" is a great one to start with, I think. Interestingly, I don't generally think too much of Vangelis's music. But this one, I believe, is one of the finest soundtracks ever composed and an integral part of the movie (if you haven't already done it I recommend watching the workprint version of the film and look out for the final scenes which feature totally different music).

Other great soundtracks that come to mind (in no particular order):

- Terminator (not easy to listen to on its own but perfect in the film, I think)

- 2001: A Space Odyssey (not an original soundtrack but still excellent, I think)

- Star Wars (I don't want to pick just one films since I think they all had some great music)
- Indiana Jones (the same as with SW)
- A.I. (this might be my favorite Williams score - hauntingly beautiful, I think)
- Rosewood
- Jurassic Park
- nuBSG
- The Long Walk Home

Some great example in there, Total Recall is also by the same dude who composed the music for Robocop irc. My favourite tune isn't even on the soundtrack unfortunately, its the indian music which plays as hes walking through the snake market.

Nope, Jerry Goldsmith (Star Trek TMP, TFF, FC, INS and NEM) did Total Recall, while Basil Poledouris (Conan) did Robocop.

Peter Gabriel's Passion, from the Last Temptation of Christ.

Picked it up in the 80's, after going to a few concerts where the bands would walk out in the dark, accompanied by the lead track. It's awesome.

Vangelis, Williams, Goldsmith, Brian Tyler, David Arnold, Richard Marvin, Ilan Ishkeri... all have done great timeless work. However, not to sound like a fanboy here, but Bear McCreary's BSG soundtracks have evolved over the years into true masterpieces, culminating in Season 4 to a work of unparallelled nuance and beauty.

Yes, yes and more yes! McCreary's work on BSG is unparalleled at the moment. I haven't seen a TV series with such a great score and musical sense in...well... ever. I'm also a huge fan of Michael Giacchino's television and film work (Alias, Lost, Star Trek).

Another vote for Ennio Morricone's The Good, The Bad and the Ugly. It's incredible how much you associate the soundtrack with the movie - I can't imagine Blondie or Angel Eyes or Tuco without Ennio's music.
