It may be peculiar to the rest of the world, but Americans have no problem thinking about ourselves in duality: I am an American, but if you ask me what I am, I will tell you I am Bermudian, because that is where my family is most recently from. It doesn't make me any less American by birth or by culture.Isn't it somewhat strange that he thinks of himself as kenyan? Wasn't he raised on Hawaii by his (american) grandparents? He never lived in Kenya, right?
Agreed. Born and raised in the US, but when someone asks what am I, generally I say English and Welsh.
I assume they already know that I'm an American.
For the most part, America is a country made up of immigrants, ya know?
