If it helps, by all means. It wasn’t a shot at your use of Fitbit, just a friendly reminder that you are the source of your power to effect changes in your life. You got this.

Likely a referral as testing usually takes a couple of appointments. A primary care usually isn't doing this. Usually a psychologist or psychiatrist, and two clinical interviews for history and presenting symptoms.I set up a Dr.s appointment for tomorrow morning. Will they be able to do the test or evaluation or whatever, or will I just get a referral to someone else who will do it?
2 to 3 months is amazing time frame. All the psychiatrists in my area are 9 months to a year out, at the short end.Had my Dr. (or technically the woman I see is a nurse practitioner) and she put in the referral to see a psychiatrist for the autism evaluation, now I just need to hear back. She warned me that it could be 2 or 3 months before I get it, which is a little disappointing, because I was really hoping to get in sooner so I could get working on the applying for disability ASAP.
Wow, I didn't realize I was that lucky, I guess I can't complain then.2 to 3 months is amazing time frame. All the psychiatrists in my area are 9 months to a year out, at the short end.
That's an incredible turnaround.
...did you?I might have to give that a try.
Start applying anyway. It's not a quick process.Had my Dr. (or technically the woman I see is a nurse practitioner) and she put in the referral to see a psychiatrist for the autism evaluation, now I just need to hear back. Yes, and usually states have their own doctors who have to review the whole file. It takes at least one hearing, and such. Multiple hearings sometimes.Start applying anyway. It's not a quick process.
No, I never did, but I think I will now. I forgot about it before....did you?![]()
If I'm going to do it for autism, won't I need to wait until I have the official diagnosis?Start applying anyway. It's not a quick process.
Not necessarily. They will want records as part of the process, but the big part of the process is knowing what paperwork you need to assemble together. If I'm going to do it for autism, won't I need to wait until I have the official diagnosis?
Good Luck.
A bit higher than my diagnosed friend, but still in the AS/HFA groupEDIT: I just took the test, and I got a 22/80, and it says anything under a 30 indicates a lack of empathy common with people with autism or Aspergers.
