It's not a question of smart, it's an issue of purpose. They might promote Trek XI, but that's not the intent of the event. If they don't promote Trek XI, it doesn't mean they aren't "smart." CBS' Television/Paramount Pictures aren't even the same people. With the film a good year away, there will be plenty of opportunities to promote it. It would be smarter to generate interest in the film a little closer to the release date.. We're still just a little far away.
