Memory Omega - New Trek Prose and Comics Wiki

Thankfully others got the gist of my question and answered me...not sure why we had to start with your condescension but thanks I guess.

Yes, funny how they were all able to answer what you asked and I said almost the same thing as Jinn after you had clarified what you were asking.

I'm currently creating templates for those MA references, should we go with VOY or VGR as the abbreviation for Voyager? The official one is VGR, but VOY is far more prominent.

Well Jinn had the advantage of being one of the people actually working on the site (or so it seems) sooooooo I kinda wanted to hear it from one of them.

Christ Dan, I asked a question and got an answer. Are we good here or what? Anything else you want to be pedantic about or can we let the thread move on?

I'm perfectly fine, I've not been condescending, nor have I been pedantic, I answered your question, twice, when you asked it originally and after you clarified what you actually were asking, you seem to be the one with the issue and one I am at a loss to think up a reason. But yes, move on.

Whether VGR or VOY, VAN or VGD, it's gotta be DSC.
I've already taken care of that: http://memory-omega.wikia.com/wiki/Template:DSC_episode

The only acceptable alternative would be DISCO...

Well, technically I only said that I'd prefer it if we just link to MA (and JD agreed with that, so that's two of four users with wikia accounts). I wouldn't go as far as saying that that is the way we are ultimately going to handle the issue.

Books *and* comics? Cool. Where should we start putting the Gold Key stuff?

... What?

Why? I actually think DIS makes a better abbreviation, even though it may not be "official".

(And for the record, I prefer VOY and VAN. I'm sensing a theme...)

Acknowledge it, say that one source says X and the other Y and highlight the fact that there are multiple, yet different sources that give differing interpretations.

Dimesdan hit the nail on the head, at least when it comes to minor conflicts as would be the case with the Ro article given in your example. My preferred option would be to keep the conflicting information in the correct chronological placement with the other information. This conflict would be clearly highlighted as has been done on the Wookiepeedia "Legends" articles. Rather than garish boxes at the beginning and ending, I would opt for a different color "box" that would fit around the conflicting information.

With regards to massive great conflicts such as the Earth-Romulan War, we could either plump for having them in the one article, but in clearly marked sections or go for separate articles.

Then this method would be utilized for the Pocket The Eugenics Wars portrayal of Khan's 20th century life versus the IDW Khan portrayal?

But those are multi-word titles, so it makes sense to abbreviate them the way we traditionally do.

But I also like the acronyms to be easily pronounceable, and I just think "diss", "van" and "voy" sound better than "disk", "vuhgud" and "v'ger" ;)

And yes, I also use "toss", "tass", and "ting". Everyone does this, right?

DS9 is the only one that messes it all up!

I think one problem with that is that "dis" is a slang term meaning to insult or disparage. And just in general, "dis-" is a Latin prefix conveying negativity or wrongness. Oh, and DIS is the New York Stock Exchange symbol for The Walt Disney Company.

So far, that's the best argument against the new Star Wars movies:lol:

Having just watched all the Star Wars movies (except Episode I) in the past couple of weeks, I can confidently offer the opinion that the new ones are among the very best. Certainly a damn sight better than the prequels.

Yeah. I'd prefer to put them in separate sections in the same article, it makes it easier to compare the different versions, and it would keep things from getting cluttered with a million different articles on the same topic.

How can you skip TPM? It's the best prequel!
