Melania movie Jan 30

I don't understand this: This guy got votes from half of America. Given that America has a population of 349 million, shouldn't this film have grossed at least $180 million at the US box office alone?
Besides the other reasons provided, and the fact that it appears to be objectively a terrible film, consider that his approval rating has dropped steeply since he was elected. If that election could be revisited he might not get the same numbers.

As I posted downstairs, I looked at the showtimes at my local theater, and, I don't believe for one second that three of the four showing are 1/2 sold out.
There must be people purchasing tickets online with no intention of watching the movie, only to drive up the box office.

Or to keep the Trump supporters out just to spite them.

Why would you assume that just because someone voted for him that they would pay to go see a movie about his wife?

A good portion of the population probably didn't even bother to vote so that didn't help things and got us where we are now in the world. I guess I'm happy with the system we have here where you have to vote and take an interest

Variety is reporting that Melania grossed an estimated $7 million this weekend, above the projections of $3-5 million. Their headline even feels like it's trying to put a positive spin on things – "'Melania' Beats Expectations" – but the truth is Amazon/MGM spent $40 million to acquire the film, and another $35 million to promote it, so it's still a big fat flop, finishing third behind Sam Raimi's Send Help and YouTuber Markiplier's indie flick Iron Lung.

But in the end, who gives a crap? Amazon will gladly take the loss if it means the Trump regime does things that favor their business. Consider it Jeff Bezos' contribution to whatever Trump's latest grift is.

Gack!!! The grift keeps growing. Layer upon layer. Wonder what Bozzo-os wants from Trump

The Hollywood Reporter said the flick is “galvanizing conservatives” in the south, “specifically older females over the age of 55, who made up 72 percent of the opening-day audience.” It added a “stunning 78 percent” of all ticket buyers were 55 and older.

Critics have been less enthusiastic, with Rotten Tomatoes showing it has an 11% approval rating from professional movie-watchers.

But Deadline reported Melania viewers are giving it rave reviews — which could spur more fans of President Donald Trump to go watch his wife’s movie.

Now that MELANIA's been screened at the ''TK'' center, he now wants to shut it totally down for at least two years for purposes of ''much-needed'' renovation. This will be the second renovation in four years.

Perhaps next week he may consider giving the Medal of Freedom to the ''outstanding'' fictional lieutenants from ALIENS and PLATOON for the film's 40th anniversaries.....or perhaps Cohaagen from TOTAL RECALL.
