Mel Brooks Returning as Yogurt in Spaceballs Sequel

I am torn about this.

One one hand it's a blast from my youth and has become a classic but on the other i like to believe i have outgrown this type of humor and fear we might just get a flat juvenile comedy movie from the 90s. I hope it'll be still funny and update some of the jokes to a more contemporary style, whatever that may be.

^Yeah, that's the kicker. I'm kind of skeptical of a more contemporary humour would even work for this type of movie. I mean, not only is humour entirely subjective, but it's also an incredibly delicate thing, especially in context to a sequel that's several decades apart. It makes me nervous about revisiting it.

And Mel Brooks isn't exactly PC in his style of humor. Despite the fact that it was one of the most anti-racist movies ever made, "Blazing Saddles" wouldn't get made today.

It's not even so much that he isn't PC which isn't the problem, but rather more akin to the style and topics that are being lampooned. And lampoon-style comedy is what I'd call it. I feel that if a more modern humour style were to be applied to its sequel, it'll lose all of its subtlety and become full of aggressive jokes that hit you on the head with them. The attitudes have also changed a lot since the original movie.
