Megan Fox slaps down Michael Bay

She has a right to her opinion. It just so happens it's an opinion a lot of other people share about his movie making style and negative. Big deal.

So Nicholas Cage wasn't a big actor before doing The Rock? Hmm, obviously, having just come off his Ocar win for Leaving Las Vegas, he was totally desperate for work ... And it's not like he'd worked with directors like the Coen Bros, Francis Ford Coppola or Mike Figgis, before going to the godlike auteur that is Mr Blow-things-up.

I'm not arguing with your main point here, I just want to say that it's not too surprising a guy named Nic Coppola would be hired by a guy named Francis Ford Coppola...

Btw.: imo Nicolas Cage is super-overrated as an actor, as well as Affleck and Smith...

On a related note, how was she in How to Lose Friends and Alienate People?
HOT.

Does she have other traits? Does it matter?
Not much :)

I actually agree with Fox that Bay's films aren't about the acting, especially a film called "Transformers". I mean, come on, it's based on a line of toys that represent big robots in a civil war, did we really expect a lot of depth here? If she did, she was misinformed.

That said, I think it shows a pretty bad side of her, part of which I ascribe to her age. It's not whether she's right or wrong or her opinion. When you work in a field where burning bridges could end your career, you need to be a bit more gracious. It's not what you say, it's how you say it. She could have just as easily said "It's a fun movie with lots of effects and explosions, the robots are the stars!" and still gotten the same message of "It's not about the humans/acting" across.

And whether or not you think he's a douche, I have to agree with Bay on one thing, I had no clue who Megan was until "Transformers". I'm glad she acknowledges that "Transformers" opened up doors for her.

I first saw Megan Fox as the hot niece of the cleaning lady on Two and a Half Men. She had to help out one episode and Charlie and Alan were both completely mesmerized by her even though she was under 18. One scene had her cleaning the window and getting water and soap suds all over herself.

I saw that episode too, course I already knew who Fox was at the time (rerun) so it was just funny to me.

Correction...Natalie Portman hasn't been priased for her acting in the Star Wars prequels, but most of everything else she has been in she gets crically acclaimed for. It was one of the reasons Lucas probably pursued her for Star Wars.

you know what, i noticed that too. she does well in her other roles. i think it's because in sw she had to play somewhat reserved and that's just not her thing.

Bay is the more successful Uwe Boll.. period.
A typical post at TrekBBS:
Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah Uwe Boll blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.
Seriously, the name of Uwe Boll has never come up in any conversation I've heard or participated in, out in the real world. But here, it's a kind of "inside baseball" among those who pontificate about film. Spare me.

I don't think Bay technically disagreed with anything she said, even though he spoke as if he were correcting her about something. She said that even though they're "not about acting", the Transformers films have opened doors for her that were not open before. Then Bay goes on to talk about how he boosted the careers of people like Nic Cage and Will Smith -- a claim I'm dubious about (not to mention that it sounds egotistical), but actually pretty much in line with what she said about her own career. What he should take issue with is her statement that the film is about special effects over acting... but maybe he realizes she's not wrong. ;)

In any case, I tend to agree with Fox; it seemed to me that she was trying to be grateful, but honest at the same time, and one has to be careful how much "honesty" you express in Hollywood, at least until you've really established yourself.

I think Micheal Bay should drop the ego until he directs a hit that doesn't have a Bruckheimer or a Spielberg above the title. He tried to strike out on his own a few years ago with that Island movie and it flopped, LOL.

Well, to his credit the first half of The Island was excellent. The problems came in the second half when it de-evolved into a typical Michael Bay action-fest.

What was wrong with what she said? She admitted the film gave her a career which was the only thing Bay had to say about his movies. And is Bay trying to say his movies are about acting?

There are a TON of directors out there who wish they had movies even half as successful as Bay puts out on a regular basis. And Fox should be more grateful. She comes across as a spoiled, arrogant, and ungrateful bitch.

Bay has proven time and again he makes studios big bucks with films people love to watch. Fox hasn't done shit but latch onto that with his help and be paparazzi fodder because of the crap she says and her, admittedly, amazing looks.

My God, Megan, just drown yourself already.

She knew in the beginning when she read the script and started shooting that the movie would blow. She could have said she wasn't returning to the movie and they could have gotten someone else but she didn't and now she's whining about it being a shitty movie that she stars in? Fuck off.

She should consider herself lucky enough to be pretty because if she wasn't, she wouldn't get ANY movie roles for her pile of shit acting.

Bay's got to get a grip too with the stars that he's "made." Nicholas Cage had been a star for several years (Moonstruck anyone) and was just coming off an Oscar win before being cast in The Rock.

Neither of which were huge commercial success movies that put tons of asses in the seats and made a studio a LOT of money. The Rock proved Cage could be a big money maker. And, quite frankly, many of Cage's action films since then have been flops. He's an A-list actor but bay was the one who gave him a shot at big budget action flicks.

Will Smith, as pointed out was a successful rapper and TV star before Bad Boys. Bad Boys wasn't even that big of a hit and then he went on to do Independence Day, which was a monster hit.

As has been proven a million times over being a tv actor doesn't mean squat when it comes to carrying a movie. While Bad Boys wasn't a monster huge hit, it was a hit as it made the studio a TON of money as it had a budget of only $19 million while making over 141 million and Smith got good reviews that helped the studios get behin him on other big budget projects.

Ben Affleck was coming off Good Will Hunting, which was a major box office and critical hit and the film that made him and Matt Damon. He even won an Oscar for his screenplay.

Affleck has had an uneven career so I'll kinda agree on this one. Arhmageddon allowed him to raise his asking price significantly though. His best work has come in smaller budget and lesser known films like Boiler Room, Chasing Amy (best love scene ever in a movie IMHO) and He's Just Not That Into You.

Even Shia was coming off a surprise hit with Disturbia before Transformers. No doubt they all benefitted from Michael Bay but he didn't create any of those guys.

Yes, but that's a very minor hit compared to the Tarnsformers movies. Without Transformers there is NO WAY Spielberg puts him in the Indy movie or he gets a vehicle like Eagle Eye.

See above

Also, I must again point out that Bay never once said that he "made" those stars, but rather that he helped their careers along.

It almost seems like people who irrationally hate Bay want to read more into the quote in order to prove their point of view on the guy.

Will Smith himself credits Bad Boys as the film that transformed him from a boyish TV star into a movie star able to take on masculine action roles. It was a very important film for him that paved the way for him to be cast in Independence Day, the success of which boosted him into the stratosphere.
