Excellent. Rios has tattoos as well as the cancer stick ( and something odd on the fingers of his left hand?). Is Raffi the one with the drug problem? Hollywood signposting for screwed up individuals who need immediate redemption before we’ve even learned what dodgy things they’ve done.
LOL! That is the stub of his cancer stick, apparently doesn't leave his ship without it. It's nice to see Cabreras has completley hung-up the character capes of his once upon a time chivalric character typecasts Lancelot, and Aramis, and instead embraced his dogeared out of shape, smoking, probably beer swilling, inner Space-Trucker. Way to escape the typecasting curse Cabreras!
Dr. Jurati promo: https://twitter.com/startrekcbs/status/1219318673434980355?s=19 They must be saving Dahj for last.
I was thinking the same thing. Shall we start a drinking game to celebrate every time he drinks, swears and looks shifty whilst shoving something he’s stolen into his backpack? He’s a good actor so this will be fun to watch. And I’m calling it now that they’re going to pair him with the Sandra Dee Dr Jurati.
Eh, we already caught a glimpse of Rios and Jurati getting cosy in one of the trailers, so there's not much guesswork involved there! Cabrera has said in interviews that he has struggled with Latino stereotyping in the roles he gets offered, so he tries to make a point of taking jobs that are as far removed from those stereotypes as possible, and preferably as different from each other as possible. Having played characters as diverse as the bratty young Augustus, an Arthurian knight, a drug addict artist who painted visions of the future, a judge, a Russian count, a Musketeer, a landscape designer, a theatrical director, a billionaire scientist and now a space pilot from the future, I'd say he is succeeding!
With some of the promo material I've seen the past few days, I'm starting to think Jeri is going to steal the show. I've always felt she was the best of the Berman-era main cast actors after Stewart himself. But the 'image' (for lack of a better term) they've created for her is just so perfect and so much better than the catsuit bullshit of before. Seven is easily the most conceptually interesting character of the era after Kira, but I've always felt she was held-back way too much by Voyager's direction. This new look pretty much says "Go be awesome."
Honestly I'm wondering if Seven might be the lead for one of the two mysterious/unannounced live-action series still in development.
Michelle Yeoh has the Section 31 series in development. There's also been talk of a Christopher Pike show in development.
Seems like a pretty tall cast overall. Stewart is not a short guy (around 5'10", and doesn't seem to have started shrinking yet) and Isa Briones seems to be the only one in the pictures shorter than he is.
*bursting bubble* (I feel kinda mean now.) Sir Patrick is shorter than I am by now, and I'm 5'8''. He is definitely shrinking (first time I met him he was slightly taller than me, second time he was my height and last time I saw him he had to look up a little).
