Me reading Vanguard

BraidsMamma

Hello everyone.
I'm quite new here but since you all made me read Vanguard (over is this thread) I figured I should share my thoughts here.
I'm gonna fill this with spoilers on Vanguard as I progress but I would of course be happy if you who have read it all didn't spoil me on what's coming.

Anyway, I'm halfway through the first book by now and these are my thougts this far.

1. I'm still not sure if it was a good or a bad idea to read the prequel story in Declassified before I started reading Harbinger. The jury's still out on that one.
2. I'm excited to get to see more of the Thoilans but I find the Tholian POV a bit hard to follow this far, lots of strange words for a non native english speaker.
3. Oh my the Bombay, we just got to know you.
Really good red herring there. I was certain that the Endavour would show up and save the day or something. I like a series that dares to kill of main characters (I'm looking at you post nemesis storyline*).
4. I have only watched TOS once and it was quite a few years ago. Are there any particular episodes I should rewatch to enjoy Vanguard more?

*I have read everything leading up to Tycon Pact, please don't spoil TP or The Fall for me =)

I don't think so, the books do a wonderful job of weaving through the series, but telling you what you need to know at each point.

Vanguard is a fantastic series full of surprise twists and turns you don't expect it's one of the best series of books I've read in the last few months. No spoilers but you'll see a lot about the Tholians in this series of books.

Yeah...probably should just stick to publication order for Vanguard. IMO, it's the best way to go.

I'm finished with the first book and this far I feel like the most things spoiled in the prequel novel has been revealed anyway (except for Jentanien knowing about the spy).

I liked the first book but I get the feeling that this far the Vanguard's official mission (politics) is way more interesting than the actual one (some ancient mega-civilisation-dna stuff that probably is going to end up at a reset button anyway)

Ha! Enjoy the rest of the series

Lemmetellyasomethin'. Any book with "David Mack" on the cover ain't ever MET a reset button, and if it did, it wouldn't have the slightest idea what it was for.

Enjoy reading reading the rest of the Vanguard books you'll really like the intrigue and mystery in the books.

You are going to be so happy when you realize how wrong you are. :)

Oh, so I'm obviously gonna end up regret saying that.
Well, well. I'll be back when I'm a few more chapters into book 2.
Right now all I can say is, Romulans, yay!
