We all know James McAvoy has said he'd be down to play Picard, but this is the first time I've seen that he really wants to do it. His excitement at the idea is infectious, and I kinda do hope it can happen somehow some way.

While McAcoy was awesome as young Xavier in First Class and subsequent X-Men movies, He's 39 years old now. At 39, Patrick Stewart looked pretty much exactly as he does now:lol:

Patrick did, but Jean-Luc didn't. And I'd love for McAvoy to wash the Hardy taste out of my mouth. ;)

Honestly? Not a terrible idea, but would he do a TV appearance?

    I could see it.

A shame Daniel is so much taller than his Dad, or he could do it.

Other movie actors have done appearances on "prestige" type TV shows.

They don't have to be "prestige"--Liam Neeson and Charlize Theron were on The Orville, after all.

It'd be great to use McAvoy to jump around different periods in Picard's life—i.e. the Stargazer, before the E-D, the early days of the E-D, etc.

I mean, why not? I do think it would be funny if they got Tom Hardy to play nuPicard, but McAvoy would be more suitable and not just because of his stint in X-Men.

Funnily, his younger Xavier in FIRST CLASS actually reminded me of Cadet Picard in his brash way of picking up women.

That's not Patrick Stewart. It's Andy Whitfield from Spartacus. Died in 2011 at age 39.

About 35 or 36. This is Stewart playing Sejanus in I, Claudius, which aired in late 1976.

Please tell me that's Patrick Stewart's actual permed hair and not a wig

    No.

Let the guy have a career without being synonymously attached at the hip to someone else.

No one is trying to force him into anything. The point of the video is that he wants to do it.

McAvoy is a great choice. The right portrayal of the character edges out over physical resemblance. Whatever happened to the young Picard from Rascals?

McAvoy didn't convince me as a young Xavier in X Men
And he would be the wrong choice for a young Picard
He looks(ed) nothing like him nor does he sound remotely like him.
