Yeah, it kinda is. I am not hater of the show. I have liked about 50% so far and I see potential in it to tell Trek like stories. But part of what make Trek what it is is going out there and exploring and discovering new things. Klingons, especially botched Klingons, aren't really that new and we have seen them in every episode so far. Aside from Saru, the Vulcans and the tardigrade (if it counts) we have seen no other alien species other than those relegated to the background with no development. When Bryan Fuller was first involved in the show he said that he wanted to get back to the TOS feeling of discovering the frontier. So far we have had little of that and hints of Georgiou having been an explorer is paying barely lip service to it. For this reason I still feel something is missing from the show and it's what, for me, is keeping it from truly feeling like Trek and not just another sci-fi product. This, of course, can be rectified, and the sooner the war stuff is passed the better in my opinion. The show needs to deliver on it's name, which it still can if the showrunners want to give us it.Discovery has its problems. This isn't one of them.
The race that various ships named Enterprised trekked into many times?Sorry, hate Klingons![]()
Is there a point to this conversation anymore?
Yet you have the face of a Klingon! Traitor!Yeah, it kinda is. I am not hater of the show. I have liked about 50% so far and I see potential in it to tell Trek like stories. I know they steal tech, but they are such an arrogant and aggressive race, much like the people here, so how could they command such advanced tech?
It's about both. Roddenberry would not have called it "Wagon Train to the stars" otherwise. We would not be talking about boldly going and the final frontier. A wagon train was something that explored the western frontier. Discovering new things and new people.Star Trek, to me, is not about exploring space. It's about exploring the human condition. About exploring today's world, today's issues, today's culture, through a lens of tomorrow.
A war story is a perfectly valid premise to start from.
In this last episode alone we have discovered so much! About Sarek and Michael. About Sarek and Spock. About Vulcan society. About Lorca's and Cornwell's past. About Lorca's problems. I see no reason to moan.Yeah, it kinda is. I am not hater of the show. I have liked about 50% so far and I see potential in it to tell Trek like stories.
