I joined mainly to discuss the new series, Discovery.
I think they are doing it very well, the effects are amazing, the best yet but.
To start out by declaring war is a big mistake, stops you going boldly where no-one has gone before which in effect stops you star trekking.
The Klingons are only one race of people, that I've never been very fond of.
So far I can see that Discovery is then almost always going to have a Klingon or two in every episode.
To have a 'spore drive' that can drop you anywhere in the universe is an exciting turn and I'm sure we'll see an episode or two that utilises this, just, nyaaarrrr... Why limit yourself to a war? When you have the entire universe to explore and to get into trouble with?
Why not be a peaceful and light (not dark) spaceship that seeks out new civilisations? Or to put it succinctly:
    Why not be Star Trek?
