May I moan a bit?

I know they steal tech, but they are such an arrogant and aggressive race, much like the people here, so how could they command such advanced tech?

Discovery has its problems. This isn't one of them.
Yeah, it kinda is. I am not hater of the show. I have liked about 50% so far and I see potential in it to tell Trek like stories. But part of what make Trek what it is is going out there and exploring and discovering new things. Klingons, especially botched Klingons, aren't really that new and we have seen them in every episode so far. Aside from Saru, the Vulcans and the tardigrade (if it counts) we have seen no other alien species other than those relegated to the background with no development. When Bryan Fuller was first involved in the show he said that he wanted to get back to the TOS feeling of discovering the frontier. So far we have had little of that and hints of Georgiou having been an explorer is paying barely lip service to it. For this reason I still feel something is missing from the show and it's what, for me, is keeping it from truly feeling like Trek and not just another sci-fi product. This, of course, can be rectified, and the sooner the war stuff is passed the better in my opinion. The show needs to deliver on it's name, which it still can if the showrunners want to give us it.

Yet you have the face of a Klingon! Traitor! :) just kidding, I know your species are cuddly really.

You really can’t wait to get past those 100 posts, don’t you?

Mods, is this the way it is intended?

There is brilliant character building, why didn't captain wasshisname go and rescue admiral whasshername?

Star Trek, to me, is not about exploring space. It's about exploring the human condition. About exploring today's world, today's issues, today's culture, through a lens of tomorrow.

A war story is a perfectly valid premise to start from.
It's about both. Roddenberry would not have called it "Wagon Train to the stars" otherwise. We would not be talking about boldly going and the final frontier. A wagon train was something that explored the western frontier. Discovering new things and new people.

You can tell stories about the human condition in any sci-fi setting. But Trek is one that is about exploration both figuratively and literally, and to be blunt when you call a show "Discovery" the implication is that you will be boldly going out there to discover things in space, not just the human heart.

Personally I think the war setting should have been left for a later season. But the obviously felt that it was an easier way in for the modern action orientated, conflict driven audience. I get the reasoning behind that if true, so I can personally tolerate it for now, but I do want the show to be boldly going before it's run is out.

In this last episode alone we have discovered so much! About Sarek and Michael. About Sarek and Spock. About Vulcan society. About Lorca's and Cornwell's past. About Lorca's problems. I see no reason to moan.

I think there is probably brilliance to come, Discovery means something, we meaning 'i' am just having a moan because I rea, he, heally don't like Klingons

We're done here. Everyone get some sleep, sober up, and learn how to use multiquote, and we'll try again another day.

Ian, stop spamming up the place.
