Matt Smith Regenerating in Next Series

Does anyone else want the 11th Doctor to regenerate in the next series. If they do I hope they replace him with a more serious Doctor like Eccleston. I don't hate Matt but I think he was copying Tennant to much.

yes lets not go wasting regenerations, the 8th & 9th regernations were both wasted, heck you could argue Ten blow a regeneration, and Matt is actually the 12th Doctor.

Eccleston wasn't really a "serious Doctor." He may not have fooled around as much as Tennant did, but he still fooled around as much as we expect the Doctor to.

And so far, Smith is nothing like Tennant.

So, basically that's a no. I have no interest in seeing the Doctor regenerate anytime soon. In fact, I'm going to be very disappointed if we see a regeneration before 2015.

Why not there's 507 regenerations, if they keep up the current average of 4.7 years per regeneration that'll take us in to the 44th century. I think they can afford to waste one or two regenerations. ;)

As to whether Matt should regenerate at the end of the series. I really, really, really, hope not. He's potentially my favourite Doctor. I've certainly taken to him quicker than I did Tennant and although I loved Eccleston he only did one series. I for one hope that Matt's still around for the anniversary series!

I also disagree with the OP's assertion that Matt is copying Tennant's Doctor. They're similar in so much as every Doctor is similar, but to me Matt's Doctor is much less 'human' than Tennant's. If there's an obvious influence for Matt's Doctor it's got to be Troughton.

Yeah, the Eleventh Doctor is closer to the earlier Doctors than the more recent ones in the sense he's less like one of us.

Ask me again about a Twelfth Doctor in five years...

You say that as though when they reach the 13th, they're gonna go "well, that's Doctor Who finished forever..."

Yeah, I'm looking forward at this point to whoever replaces Smith. It's weird to have the Doctor be the least interesting character on the show. Eleven is no more than a walking collection of idiosyncrasies passing for a character...and oddly enough, an old slang term for this kind of thing is "funny hat character."

Amy, I love her - some weeks she's more the Doctor than Eleven is. Rory grew on me, much to my surprise - the fact that he sees through Eleven is a great part of his appeal.

River? She should be the Doctor.

I have said that he was very Troughton like since the 11th Hour.

I've never heard that Matt Smith is copying David Tennant. If that was so a friend of mine would probably still be watching the show!! No I think Matt is brilliant and has found his stride as the 11th Doctor. He's no where near like David. They're both very different in personality and how they act. The Ninth was an intense Doctor! He wasn't serious. He was intense is how I would put it.

I hope Amy stays on the show until Karen Gillan is 60, because she'd STILL probably look good.
I'm not saying that Karen Gillan is not good looking, but that doesn't change the fact that I really don't like Amy, she's annoying. Bring back Romana and let her regenerate into an Amy lookalike, Amy's gone, Karen stays, everyone's happy.

the 507 regneration is far from being an accpet fact about the Doctor, we had a thread on it recently in this very forum.
