Matt Jefferies and the TOS Enterprise...

Well, there is money at stake, that's why. Is this new, larger model of the TMP refit being built entirely out of generosity? Money is being raised. Money will be made when the model is shown. Somebody is going to get a piece of that money.

So sure, it makes sense that certain people are trying to write out the guy with the design sketches. And it speaks volumes that the guy with the design sketches isn't party to this charade.

For what it's worth, I had several conversations with Probert back in 1981 through the good graces of Paul Newitt, who knew him. His story hasn't changed in 34 years.

Lol, thank you for all the info here, esp. the screenshot. This background info will make the video a nice watch. I like Taylor's hat.

@Shaw: Informative post like yours make this forum really a great special place to know things you didn't learn.

One last thing: When I was kid those pictures of the actors with the model really caught me too. I was soo waiting for episode to see Spock holding the Enterprise like this. There was the episode with "Brahms" who miniaturized the ship, so I waited.

Sorry for the doublepost but it really interested me and I find this enterpriseproject really odd. Not only because I had the chance to read this thread.

I was too tired to go to bed so I watched some other videos about the project and how you're supposed to spend money and what you get in return. It seems you're supposed to donate some certain fixed sums. And if I understood correctly (again, it was late ;) ) they need 3.000.000 dollars.

3.000 dollar is the highest sum they suggest. For 3.000 they promise you to spend a whole day with you, including doing a minor job on the model (shortly before it's finished) and meeting one of the many many celebrities that are supposed to come on a daily basis because they want to see the model and get a piece of the glory it will represent (or so).

Well, let's assume there are indeed such people who spend 3.000 on this modelmaking. But if f.e. 1.000 people spend 3.000 dollar each, it would take Taylor and his friends almost three years to finish the list of "individual days" with each of them.

Yes, I know it's rather unlikely but still it's a little dubious to promise things that most likely won't come to happen.

Plus: this "let's ignore Probert" thing is very unfortunate. I found this old interview here:
http://ottens.co.uk/forgottentrek/interview-with-richard-taylor/
Did "Andy" Probert fake this interview too?

I am so fatigued by members of old productions trying to write others out of history.

I'm more fatigued by people trying to wring even more cash out of Trek fans.

Wring away! I love spending my money on Star Trek. I'm waiting to pay money for a really good blu-ray set of The Motion Picture. Or The Wrath of Khan. (I'm very happy with the TOS set, thank you.)

A new Spock's head cookie jar? Not so much.

This? Well, it's better than a cookie jar, I guess...

I don't think BillJ is talking about merchandise.
