Mass Effect: ANDROMEDA

I always figured they were Klingons.

I wonder if we'll ever get a truly great Star Trek game before I die?

Oh I can see that working out. Yeah.

The last Star Trek game I played was Star Trek Online and didn't really stick around for more. Tried it for a week but just wasn't my cup of tea.

Other then that the only stand alone games I have done was "TNG A Final Unity" and "Star Trek 25th Anniversary" which I never finished.

I haven't been to the thread in a while, but I have been keeping up with the news, and so far everything I've seen looks great.
As for the different aliens, I've got a bit of soft spot for Salarians. Mordin was one of my favorite characters in the original trilogy.

to quote a Gaffer

"looks bad.

I'm there Day One."

The cinematic trailer looks exciting. I hope the gameplay can measure up to the highest standards as well.

MaleRyder looks like a fucking milquetoast / Bad Nathan Drake-alike, glad I'll be playing as FemRyder

^Oh I always play as a female in Bioware games, at least on the first playthrough. Something of a tradition at this point.

no, it's the combination of default face and voice actor

thankfully it's just the default and MilquetoastRyder will remain in the supporting cast for me
I may be misremembering, but I think they said somewhere that your character design choices for your PC Ryder will alter the look of the other two. They did a similar thing with Hawke in DA2, though with somewhat mixed results.

yup, here's to hoping it turns out better than with DA2 (although some of the results there could be unintentionally hilarious) - that's one of the things Fallout 4 did really well, even though it was largely irrelevant due to the
early game death of your spouse

Little bit different with FO4 since it allowed you to manually design both of them, while DA2 (and I'm presuming MEA) altered their appearances dynamically depending on your choices.
It lead to some weird combinations as IIRC it only really reacted to the skin tone and face structure sliders.

Yeah, if I remember correctly, one of my Hawkes was the only redhead in the family. (Not sure if another was the only blonde at one point too)

If that is indeed the case, I do wish they'd used nonwhite Ryders in their promotional videos.

Any word on DLC like Day fricking 1 DLC :barf: ?

I was thinking of doing 2 playthroughs like I did with the original Trilogy (1 Male & Female character) but this time doing the 1st one as non DLC just playing it as the game we get on launch and the 2nd one including all the DLC though that means I have to wait for it all to come out. The problem with a game like Mass Effect being so story driven some of the DLC feels left behind once you finish the game, of course they did so some post story DLC on purpose in ME2 for example that helped combat that. I never did some of the ME3 DLC because it came out so late after I already completed it twice so hoping for better release dates in Andromeda.

The setting of the game strikes me as a little odd. It's set about 5 minutes after humans discovered the mass relays. They have the whole Milky Way to explore, the most exciting time in human history yet these humans are already looking to explore another galaxy, even though they've only scratched the surface of their own...?

Mass Effect has been ignoring its own lore since ME2.

It would have made more sense if the arks were a last-ditch effort to escape the Reapers, in case the Crucible didn't pan out.

Maybe five minutes after humans discover mass relays, but other species had been dealing with them for hundreds of years.

Not seeing an issue here.
