Marvin Candle's Dharmababy Is Alive!

m01ety

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
This didn't occur to me until I went to bed, but as I was trying to fall asleep, I realized -- Marvin Candle has a baby! One that's not dead! With a wife that gave birth to it without dying!

!!!

I think this is PRETTY significant. Does this mean that the Island started babykillin' after Dharma pissed it off with its experiments? Who else was able to have babies on the island before that became impossible?

Hmmm....

It could be significant or it could be that the baby was just born elsewhere. They didn't really say one way or another how long Mrs. Chang and baby had been there.

Yeah, I knew that baby would be important and then it occurred to me that it would be Miles.

I had that thought too. It may even be true, but unless they're going to do something really cool with it, I hope it isn't.

Charlotte's probably related to someone who is or was on the island. Jack and Claire are related to each other as well as the very important Christian. And now Miles is Dr. Chang's son? There doesn't seem to be a compelling reason to do it and it almost strains credibility to have so many incidental familial connections.

And yet, I can't deny that that baby's probably important since it was featured here as well as the Comic-Con video. Who knows?

If it is Miles, they better kick ass with that storyline though. Or else ;)

At least with the freighter folk it can be written as somewhat less random. If Miles knew Chang was his father and signed on to this mission because of it (to find his father or something related to his work) then it's character motivation, not shocking coincidence. However, since this seems to be exactly what they're setting up with Charlotte, it would need to be very compelling to try it with Miles as well.

yeah, might as well right? The only person who wouldn't have that connection is Faraday, since he's been to the island apparently already. During the construction of that station. Although considering his mother might be Hawkings and she obviously has a great deal to do with the island, it wouldnt surprise me. Does that make her also a "constant" of Desmond as well, since they've met in the past as well?

"Already" is a pretty ambiguous term when it comes to Lost these days. I'm pretty sure that, from his point of view, Faraday had never been to the island before arriving on the freighter. He will probably end up at the Orchid's construction in a later episode.

Don't think it's Miles. We saw the babies mother and father (Dr Cheng), and we know that Miles' mother is at Oxford. Speculation is that Mrs. Hawkins is Miles' mother. Don't think he had two mothers.

Unless Ms. Hawking is Daniel's mother, which makes more sense ;)

No, Daniel Faraday's mother is the one who is at Oxford/probably that woman. Miles is the one who talks to dead people and we don't know anything about his parents.

EDIT: That was addressed to Alpinemaps.

He actually just spoiled to us that Daniel and Miles are half-brothers and don't know it yet. :p

I think that is a definite yes. Didnt she say that her driving force was to find where she was born? Well, I think she was born on the island. There must be a reason that she alone is getting a nose bleed from the time jumps. I think Faraday knows something about it.

Marvin Candle's baby was probably born off the island.
